Zumba + Yoga = Pain in my ASS

I started Zumba and Yoga about a month ago. We have classes here at work (Friggen awesome, right!?)  I'm pretty sure after the instructor found out that I was having my first dress fitting next week she decided to push me harder.

I love her... and hate her at the same time.

It hurts to sit on the toilet.  I think I'm just going to hold my pee.

Anyone else having someone kick their ass on a weekly basis? Haha

Re: Zumba + Yoga = Pain in my ASS

  • I do yoga, but it is a peaceful workout. My dogs kick my @ss when I try to walk them lol

  • I'm going to kick my own butt next week.  I've been majorly slacking off in the workout dept thanks to final exams leaving me with the will to do... well, nothing.  I'm sstarting a new dvd workout on Monday and am anticipating finding pain in muscles that I've forgotten I even have.
  • I'm running a 10k in a couple weeks and I've been slacking on the training.  I have a feeling my ass will definitely get kicked the morning of my race.

  • Not yet but a new yoga studio opened not from from work I'm thinking about checking out.  They have a $35 2-week unlimited trial offer that seems like a screaming deal to me.

  • my local Y offers Zumba, which I thought would be a breeze in person because i'm suuuuuch an *expert* {snort} doing it at home on the Wii with the kidlet.

Clue number 1 should've been that the lady teaching the class didn't stop moving before it even started, she's introducing herself rocking back and forth on her heels n' shyt, soft jogging to the water cooler, fiddling with her towel.  Like I don't mean stretching or warming up, I mean this girl did not stop physically doing stuff.    I was dead on the floor before I found out what clue number 2 should've been.   I AM going back though lol.

I tried yoga, same with pilates.  my core or center or zen whatever it's called, is broken.  Can't do it without falling over.  Lotus down! Lotus down!  It's not cute.
  • My zumba instructor did the same thing to me, and I am so thankful for it now even though at the time I was the same way.

I'm trying to get back into a routine now that the wedding is over, but this week went to hell in a handbasket--and I just let it.  It was ridiculous for me to think that life would be back to normal only a few days after the wedding.   Gonna try for next week, and I can't wait to get back to getting my a$$ kicked again.

LMFAO SultryZulu!!!  On Tuesday when I was doing yoga i felt the same way... I think it's because I ate lunch before hand (had a meeting directly after) I was tipping and laughing at myself throughout most of the class... but my shoulders ended up getting sore so I know I still got a work out.

I hate when I'm trying to hold a pose that I finally got down and I start shaking like a crack addict without crack because I'm not strong enough... lol

Needless to say... I always try to stay in the back of the class.

After Zumba... I'll get SUPER RED... like LOBSTERFUCKINGRED.  Like I've been sitting on the beach for waaaaaay too long... but I'm from Minnesota so we all know its not sunburn (Ive managed to avoid burning myself visiitng the booth so far)  I'll take a cool shower afterward and try to settle down... but I stay red for about an hour afterward... its so EMBARRASSING!  I got off the elevator to go back to my desk after the first time and ran into my old boss... she was like "OMG WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU!?....... Oh have you been working out? Good for you..." (fucking bitch) That has so far been the worst part about working out at work...

  • STRETCH!  I am a group fitness instructor, personal trainer, and strength and conditioning coach, and stretching will totally help that!  Always after the workout, never before.  (I know, we were all taught to stretch before the workout, but we were taught wrong.) Also, do some weight training!  You won't get big, I promise.  You'll just tone and look amazing in that wedding dress because building lean tissue will raise your resting metabolic rate, which means you'll burn more calories all day long!  Hang in there, that soreness will tone down eventually.

  • My wedding isn't until next year but I call myself "getting in shape" beforehand so of course he got me Zumba... I think because I'm half Mexican he thought "Oh she'll get this no problem"... Needless to say, I did a MIDLENGTH class the other day and promptly fell out on the floor.  One of our dogs came over and sat down next to me crying because he thought I had passed out or something.  I'm usually DRENCHED in sweat when I finish. Please help motivate me to keep going because at this rate, I will only do Zumba once a week. LOL. My motivation to fit into a beautiful dress is completely gone. LOL
