How did you find your florist?

Hi ladies! I am working on setting up a weddings and events floral design business. I was hoping you ladies could help me by sharing how you found your florist? Obviously the knot advertising is awesome! How did you find your florist, what was/is your floral budget and what was the most important thing for you when choosing your florist? I am not selling or advertising, just hoping to get your imput on what brides are looking for in a florist for their wedding! Thanks so so much!

I used Market Street because I have used them for the prom every year since I started sponsoring it.  My budget was about $1100 because flowers were very important to me and I got some very beautiful flowers.

I got recommendations from here/D Magazine and interviewed 3 florists.  The first one I just didn't click with at all.  The second one I liked pretty well but wanted to check out one more.  I picked the third mainly because I just clicked with her--I just really felt like she understood my vision completely.  She was also moderately priced (not the most expensive of the 3, not the cheapest).  She also had wonderful reviews on here and on Wedding Wire.  So all three helped me make my decision in ultimately picking her--personality, reputation, and price, in that order.

I chose mine off my venue's preferred provider list. I liked that they were willing to work with my budget (modest - $1500) and adjusted the flowers are necessary.

I started with my venue contact. I asked her which florists she saw a lot at the venue.  Next I moved to the yellow pages and searched for reviews on wedding wire dot com and other places. I checked the nest as well. I interviewd 4 florist. I felt an immediate disconnection with those that were not detail oriented and were just like, yes we can do it for your price.

I had a friend make my bouquets and boutineres. My centerpieces were potted plants I purchased from a nursery. I also had ferns placed on the stage.  I kept my flowers very low key.

I used Market Street in Allen.

For my bouquet, 3 bridesmaids and 7 centerpieces it was $119!!!!

That is how I chose my florist b/c I would not have been able to do it that cheap myself :)

    Good Luck!
