Speaking of timelines, anyone else having a morning/ day wedding?

Looking at how long it's estimated for the bride and BMs to get ready, I'm starting to get nervous about what time I'll have to wake up..! I hate waking up early and I don't like being sleepy! I'm sure I'll be all nervous and whatnot and I won't even be thinking about sleep.. but still. Luckily there's only 3 BMs with me and it's looking like it might just be 2. Not sure if my mom and sister will want their hair professionaly done but that will only make 3 people total getting done if they decide to. FI's daughter will most likely be getting ready at her mom's house and FSIL and FMIL at their own homes. Ceremony is at 11 and it takes about 30 minutes to get to our venue. Yikes?

Morning/ day ladies what are your timelines looking like?

Re: Speaking of timelines, anyone else having a morning/ day wedding?

  • I am no help here at all. I don't want to like freak you out or anything but our ceremony is at 4:30 and we're arriving at the salon to have our hair done at 8 AM. What are you doing about makeup? DIY or hiring a MUA? You're not planning on taking pictures before the ceremony are you?

  • Our ceremony is at 2. Our timeline is something like this (and this is the girl timeline - my fiance has a totally different timeline for his boys to go to the local barbershop, get a wet shave/shampoo/etc., grab lunch, and then take boy pics):

    wake up: 6:30
    morning yoga: 7-8
makeup artists and hairstylists arrive: 8:15ish
hair and makeup: 8:30-11:30ish (there will be either 2 or 3 MU artists, and 2 or 3 hairstylists).  We will all be in a big suite, and will have food brought to us, so people can munch as they are hanging out.
    get dressed: 11:30-12
    girl pictures:12-1
travel from hotel suite to ceremony site: 1-1:15
wait in bridal party suite at the church: 1:5-2
    ceremony: 2pm

  • Oh, I forgot to mention: there will be 10 of us having both hair and makeup done (me, 5 BMs, 2 junior BMs, MOB, and MOG)
  • My ceremony is at 1. I haven't officially planned my timeline yet though. I do anticipate having to wake up earlier than I really want to though. I know I'm having the photographer come around 11 to get getting ready shots, shots of just the boys, and shots of just the girls before the wedding. Which means I should have hair and make-up mostly done by then. I guess I really have to sit down and figure this out!

  • I'm no help either, but my ceremony start is 4:30...we're getting up around 7-8am..getting breakfast....hair starts at 8am, then the girls who want, are going to Macy's to have their MU done for free...or the they will just do it themselves...

Butterflyjumper1, I'm just curious, is the yoga you have planned slow and relaxing? I always sweat during yoga and would want to take a shower before I get my hair and makeup done if I was in your wedding party. But maybe it's not the kind of yoga where you'll get sweaty?

it's going to be a really light vinyasa flow. centering, some sun salutations, some standing poses, then lots of deep stretching and relaxation. I usually do a really vigorous practice, but I want it to be lighter for the morning of the wedding. There should be time for people to take a quick shower if they want to. Oh, the only people actually doing yoga will probably be me, my mom, and one of my bridesmaids, so it shouldn't be too much of an issue.
  • My ceremony starts at 2 and is five minutes from where we're getting ready. I have't worked this out yet, but I"m really hopeful I can wake up around 7:00 and run 4-5 miles before I'll need to get ready. Is that possible?

Great. So it looks like I might be waking up at 5:30 if I give myself 2 hours for me and my sister's hair and my makeup, 1 hour for me and everyone else to get dressed and 1 hour to get pics of me and my family before the ceremony. Does that sound about right? I'm reaaally hoping hair/ makeup time and getting dressed time can be cut down.

I really wanted to join families the night before so everyone can get to know each other, mingle, relax and have some fun. The plan is to go out for dinner somewhere and do a little sightseeing. But with the looks of this timeline, I will need to be in bed by 8 with a sleeping pill ready in order to not be cranky the next day haha

ETA: This is a timeline I made up... is it where it should be?

    5:30 shower and eat breakfast
6-8 hair and makeup (probably only my sister and I... maybe my mom. either way i'd get two stylists, one for me and the other for mom and sis. but only I will be getting pro makeup)
8 get dressed (too much? my dress doesn't have a corset if that makes a difference...)
8:50 leave for venue (takes about 30 mins to arrive)
    9:30-10:30 pictures me and fam
    10:30 prepare for ceremony start
    11 ceremony

Not to throw you off, but my hair trial took 2 hours and my makeup trial took about 1 hour. That's just for me. Maybe my stylists are slow (which I think may actually be the case, which is annoying) but I would say that you shouldn't count on this 6-8 hair and makeup being cut down at all. That's probably (at a minimum) what it'll take to get your hair and makeup done. As for the dress, you may be able to do that in half an hour if it's not complicated.

  • yea, my stylist told me to allow just under 3 hours for myself, total. Obviously, only one stylist will be working on me at a time so the other stylists will be zipping around with the other girls while I am being worked on, and I have REALLY long hair (about 8 inches above my butt at this time!), but I would allow more time for you just in case.....

Ugh I haven't even had a chance to even start on this.  My BM's are already gripping that they may have to be up before 10am.  The ceremony is at 5:30 and the limo is coming at 4:45 and photos are starting around 3:30 for just the girls and me.  I should probably actually book my hair and mua while I'm thinking about it.

I haven't really planned my timeline, but off the top of my head I'm thinking:

5:30 everyone (5 of us) up and showered
7-10am hair gets done, bagels and coffee served
    10am get dressed
10:40 leave for Church (down the road)
    11am ceremony
    11:30 receiving line
    11:45 leave for reception
    12-1 pictures/cocktail hour
    1-5 reception/dinner

Hopefully that allows enough time for us to get ready! I've been in 3 morning weddings and I don't recall any issues. We'll see!

  • My wedding is at 2pm but I'm getting my hair done the night before so I will be up at 5am to make sure I have enough time to get the little things done and get showered and dressed in time, if I can find a MUA that wont make me look like a space cadet then I will work them in after shower time but if not I will do it myself since it wont be a lot of makeup anyway
  • 3 hours?! Gah this sucks. I'll have to talk to my stylist for sure so she can tell me what to expect. Looks like I'll have to say goodbye to getting before ceremony pics with family so I can plan for hair and makeup 6-9. I doubt anyone will come do my hair at 5 in the morning hahahaha
  • My ceremony is at 1. I don't have my timeline officially set yet but I know that our hair stylist wants us there by 8 at the latest. There are only 3 of us getting our hair done - me, BM and FG. She said it will take 3 hours - my FG will be a little less then an hour but mine will take a little bit longer.
