Fall wedding

We are thinking of a fall wedding when all the leaves change color...do you think this will happen end of October or early Nov? Oct 2011 rained a lot though and we are having an outdoor wedding...

Re: Fall wedding

  • I think end of October will be good. Make sure you have a rain plan!!!

  • We got married October 29, 2011.  A lot of the leaves had already fallen, but you really only need a few trees that are the perfect color to get some great pictures.  Here are some of our outdoor pictures:

  • I am getting married on 10-12-12, and part of the reason we went for a date in the first half of the month is the hope that it will still be relatively warm. My brother got married October 30, 2010 in Asheville, North Carolina, which is in the Smokey Mountains, and it was obscenely beautiful. Were my budget significantly larger I would absolutely do a destination wedding there, especially as most of our wedding party and about 40% of our guests have to travel to come to Columbus anyway! We are fortunate, though, our ceremony/reception venue is just about 2 blocks from Creekside in Gahanna, so the Creekside area will make for some really beautiful pictures!

  • The photographer my friend used said definetely late october, she was planning oct 20th and he said that would be perfect, but just fyi the marathon this year is october 21st! so be careful it will be hard to do with hotel blocks and everything the day of!
  • It's always tricky and a guessing game.  You could end up with little color on the trees or possibly have no leaves left!  I got married October 8th last year and there enough trees that had changed to seem 'fall like' to me.  I do remember it seemed to peak in my eyes around the 22nd but was getting chilly by then.

Best of luck and just remember...even if things don't go exactly as planned, your wedding will be wonderful!

  • I looked it up online and they say the prime weekend for fall colors here is traditionally 19-21.  Hope that helps!

  • We are from columbus, but having our wedding in Tennessee on a dock over looking the lake and we are having a fall themed wedding on september 1, 2012. Fall is our favorite season, our anniversary time and we had to have it on a three day weekend because we have family traveling from michigan and ohio. I'm sure the leaves won't have changed be then, but when we talked about getting married we knew what we wanted the theme to be, then we thought about the date, noticing that labor day weekend was the only three day weekend everyone could make it. I don't think you have to be perfectly in the middle of fall to have your fall wedding, its your wedding, you have whatever you want :)
