Is it REALLY that hard ?

Im begining to think that checking yes or no and dropping an already posted envelope in the mailbox is hard. But not nearly as hard as not even leaving your desk and clicking will attend or wont attend on a website.Oy..I still have 53 people with no rsvp. I divided the list into my fmil, my fi, and myself. You'd think together we could figure out if those 53 folks are planning to attend or not. Rsvp deadline was the first. I'd like to just assume theyre not coming, but so far people we were sure wouldnt be, are, and some we were sure would be, are not. JUST SAY YES OR NO PEOPLE!!!!! Ok, I feel better. Anyone else having rsvp frustrations?

Re: Is it REALLY that hard ?

  • I completely feel ya! I had about 30 people still missing at the deadline of the 1st also (out of just over 105 invited)!  I addressed the envelope and put a stamp on it for you! How hard is it?? Honestly I find it just rude! One of them is the mother of a bride whose wedding we attended in July so she should know how frustrating it is to get late RSVPs! We've managed to quickly move through the list so that now we only have 2 RSVP's left to hear from.  Hopefully they get back to us soon because I'd like to move on with my wedding planning!!

    Good luck with your list!
  • My RSVPS are due Jan 18th so they are still rolling in pretty steady....however my Bridal shower is this Saturday and my mother and sister had to call 42 people Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday because no one bothered to RSVP. They had the option of calling or emailing my sister. I understand that the holidays are crazy but COME ON.....you cant take 30 seconds to call or email someone yes or no???!!!!???? I just think its inconsiderate, especially when its at a restaurant and they had to give final numbers on Tuesday.

Im sure I will be complaining about the same thing in a few weeks for the wedding....just so frustrating.
  • I'm with you lnl, we invited 180.....RSVP date of Jan 1st....as of Jan 4th we are still missing about 60! So frustrating! Today I finally sent FI and FMIL a list of their guests who are MIA and asked if they could kindly contact them over the week/weekend so I can get an accurate count :/ It's mainly FI's single friends who are lazy and not responding...grrrr. Good luck to everyone!

  • I hear ya girls! My RSVP due date was 12/30/11 and of course had over 30 that we still hadnt heard anything from. Conidering we had a 2nd list of people we "wanted" to invite but couldnt I almost said OH WELL.  But then..I just had to make phone calls and e-mail which i still dont feel i should of had to do.  It's lile "Hi,are you coming to our wedding"?? So dumb-we shouldnt have to ask! So frustrating!

  • Apparently, it is... ugh! As of Monday, we were missing a little over 20 responses. We invited about 90 and our deadline date was December 31st. I feel like a stalker. A couple of people still haven't returned my calls or emails. On top of that, two of my step-cousins also wrote in guests, when they weren't given a plus one... ANNOYING!! I just sent out evites for our rehearsal dinner. I'm seriously hoping it goes smoother.
  • I wish I could say it was my fiances friends who werent getting in their rsvp's. I gave him his list, he has gotten a response from almost everyone. His mom is steadily rolling in replies from her list. MY friends however? pffft.. non responding. Seriously folks? I thought MY friends were the responsible ones lol. We've had one major plus one annoyance and a few minor. People we sent invites to Mr & Mrs. and we're getting back Mr & Mrs AND little George and Suzie and Michael. How come we brides are supposed to follow all the etiquette rules but everyone else gets to break them? I hate feeling like a stalker or like im pestering someone too. Ive tried to be polite and upbeat about it all. "just going over my head count and noticed we havent received your RSVP. Will you be attending? We hope you'll be able to join us ,but we  understand if you can't make it" am I going about it wrong?  Anyone wanna call my people for me? HAHAHA

  • You guys seem to be doing well I am beginning to worry that the ballroom rented for our estimated 120 ppl will be too large. I only have 34 RSVP's so far uggggh!!!! And I have reminded people and facebooked and emailed. Most are the FI out of town family. My RSVP date is the 15th which is late because wedding is the 4th of Feb. but oh well I suppose.

    i finally found the one!

  • We have 264 people invited and only 110 have responded.... which means 150+ people have to respond in the next week before my 14th deadline...

What I find hilarious is that almost NONE of the wedding party has responded. I mean, I know theyre coming, but I dont know who is bringing a date and who is now, so what in the world do they have to think about when sending a response card in? Those should have been the first ones back!

    woooo sahhhh ladies....

  • Had the same issue with wedding party, but in regards to their kids. We said no plus ones, only married, engaged or living together, we dont want the flavor of the week at the wedding.

  • I got one back yesterday from the mother of the former bride who's wedding we attended recently with the RSVP completely blank!!!  No name, no check marks, no numbers, nothing! Literally came back the way I sent it.  Luckily I was smart enough to put numbers on the back so I knew who it was from! But sheesh people!!!! What was the point in sending that?!
  • Oh Ive got the winner... my FI has an aunt and uncle who have SEVEN kids. Thankfully theyre all over the age of 10. His uncle and one of his cousins are involved in the ceremony so we invited the whole family (even though its costing us $220 JUST for their family to eat). Their response card had a CHECK in the blank. No number, nothing. When youre potentially bringing 9 people to a wedding, you better put something other than a CHECK!

  • TAMANDCRYS, I can relate... My fiance invited 31 relatives, who all live out-of-state and only 7 are coming. Honestly, it's a bit disappointing. I wonder if it's because it's his 2nd wedding (... even though it's my 1st).  Up until last week, I was afraid his parents would be sitting alone at the reception. On the bright side, we're saving $40/head.
  • Well FI's family keeps putting DECLINE but means ACCEPT so we just call them now. We invited roughly 185 but when I change things in my THEKNOT planner it goes up and down because one big family (my old nanny) all her children and grandchildren are adding their children...which I figured they would do. So far 4 kids not invited are now coming. I could care less at this point.  We are missing over 100 with the deadline on Saturday the 14th. My shower is the 14th and we are missing over half the replies too. I didn't have #'s for EVERYONE so the MOH is going to see what she can do. My grandmother keeps saying we sent them out too early (black friday) and people forget with holidays...well we couldn't do it any later AND have time to call these missing people before we have to write out checks for over 1K for each venue with additonal rental chairs.

  • Well I havent been home n a while. My fiance forgot to check themail when he went home today. I got admitted into the hospital yesterday. Just what I needed this close to the wedding. But I also think beimg able to walk down the aisle is important and I couldnt. Something messed up my joints, going into the 4th week n getting worse. I just want them to fix me before the wedding. Hopefully ill have loys of rsvp's caught up when I get outta here. Thankful for my droid, its like a mini computer in my hand

  • Thanks! I will say one positive about all this, my fiance and I have gotten even closer instead of the stressed out bickering alot of couples.can go thru inthese last short weeks. But I do believe the ambien the nurse just brought me is kicking in! Goood luck ladies, try not t end up in the hospital lol

  • YAY for being out of the hospital and not in pain!! Still dont have my rsvp's finished, but at least im out of the hospital! They still dont know what the problem is, but at least they seem to have found a combination of painkillers and medication that lets me function and walk. YAY for being able to walk down the aisle!!

  • i didnt think this would be that difficult either. i had nothing to mail back. you could call me, email me or use the knot's rsvp feature.

so many people did not respond. i was sorely tempted to just count them out, but did end up calling people.

my friends who are close to me forgot to rsvp because they assumed that i knew they were coming. SIGH. i dont assume that way.

my final rsvp came in today. i had to make adjustments to my chapel (i needed one with more space) and the final bill for the reception. more people are coming than i had originally anticipated.
