Green Bridesmaid Gowns

Okay, so I know that for some reason I keep hearing that people are weary about brides who want green gowns for bridesmaids.
At this point, im going nuts. Because we went to Davids Bridal and picked out a nice, plain dress that all of my girls would look nice in. The only odd thing was, they suprisingly didnt have that many shades of green that I liked. The dark green color was like, dull and blah. And now that I picked out a new dress, im lost.
My fiance and I are having an outdoor, lakeside wedding in October. And we both wanted Hunter green. Where can I find my girls (who are all shapes and sizes) an affordable, beautiful dress?

  • I am going with a clover green - not from david's but that same color. Then doing purple flowers -- thought it would look nice. What month is the wedding? There should be some hunter green out there.

  • Thats a nice combination, that will look really nice! I looked at a couple other places, and the dresses are either too fancy or too skimpy. Its strange. I am also facing the Dillema of our dress fabrics clashing. Some people are telling me they should all wear Satin, and some are saying that they should wear Chiffon. The wedding is in October, so I am just hoping I find something that wont cost too much or not look good on all of them.
  • I know exactly what you mean! Finding the right green was difficult. I ended up going with a Bill Levkoff design in their clover green (way different than DB's) - we got ours out of town but I know there are salons in the area that carry Levkoff. Most of the dresses I saw were between $140 - 180 depending on style/store.  My girls were all different shapes and sizes too and found some really cute styles that seemed to work for everyone as well.

    Good Luck!
  • oh and you mentioned fabric choice - chiffon can be lovely however it is so flowy and airy that you might want to think twice if you are having an outdoor wedding and the wind picks up... (if you go for shorter styles that is)

I will definately have to check that designer out! And those arent too bad of prices. My maid of honor is wearing a shorter, Satin dress and I am planning for my other girls to wear something long and flowy. My little sister is very tall, and not very thin so I wanted to give her something flowy. You are right about the wind though, we dont need any flashing at the wedding haha :)
    Thanks for the help!
  • My girls wore Bill Levkoff. Got them at Frank Bernards in DE. The had a lot if styles to try on. 140 no tax.
