We paid for a VERY expensive cake that is super customized and were wondering if most places will allow you to see a viewing of your cake before the wedding?
You mean make a "mock up" of your cake before the wedding? If that's what you mean I'm going to guess no. Unless you're prepared to pay for that cake twice. Your paying for the labor/effor that goes into it.
What does this have to do with etiquette? Are you just wondering if you'll be able to see your finished cake the day before the wedding? I'm guessing not, since I imagine they put finishing touches on right before or during delivery. I've never heard of anyone doing this, but you could try asking your baker directly.
I was wondering if it was even polite to ask and the answer is no which is SCARY STUFF. We spent 1200 dollars on our cake and they're starting the day before and we cannot see it at all. Our cake is not just some 3-4 tiered bunch of circles and squares but is instead an elaborate (my fiances idea which may backfire lol) 3d cutout similar to something you see on charmed city/ace of cakes so super worried...
I'm a cake decorater that works for a company, If someone asked me to see their cake the day of the wedding i'd let them. I would rather them come in actually, so they can see where i'm at in it and see if its something they like. Plus I always love their reactions. i think you should try and see what they say...
