Recommend me your photographer!

FI and I are in the process of looking for our photographer and I'm just overwhelmed by how many there are out there... We'd like to keep it under 3k (hopefully). Who did you go with and were you happy with them? I really want to get our engagement pics done in September to have our save the dates out before the holidays.

    I really loved working with David Bibeault. He did our engagement session inside Fenway Park, our wedding at Glen Manor and our TTD session at Glen Manor last night. He is fun, laid-back and super flexible. His prices and packages are great (Top package is 3,000) and he has some great staff photgraphers now like Jamie Harrington and James Murphy. I'd check them out!

    Our package was $4500 (2 photogs, unlimited coverage all day) but she's got smaller packages.

    Another Melissa Robotti bride here. She is so fantastic. Check out kappleby's pics a few posts down. Her packages start in your range; we're going with her basic package and can add an album later if we want.

    I have a spreadsheet with other photogs and their package details in the same range if you'd like it; just leave me your e-mail. Another favorite was A Brilliant Photo, who had the best package for the price IMO.

    We used David Bibeault and are floored with how wonderful our pictures are. We also had Jamie Harrington and James Murphy there on our day. We did our engagement pics with them at Fenway (before it was cool.. haha) and James Murphy did some with us at Scarborough. I'd recommend him as well as DB in a heart beat. I love our photos.

    I booked her last summer and prices started at $2,700 at that time for eight hours of coverage with a second photographer, online gallery, a 10x15 proof magazine and a CD of approximately 700 high resolution photos that you can use to make prints, albums, etc. That's the package we booked. Her other packages add albums at varying prices.

    (ETA: She said she'd honor the price after the wedding if we wanted an album. We liked the albums from the $3,700 package best, so we can get them for $1,000 more after the wedding if we want to. This made the initial one-third deposit much more affordable for us. Other photographers we met charged much more for the album if you bought it outside of the package later on. And she offers a discount on boudoir pics to her brides if that's something you were thinking about doing.)

    I really want Melissa Robotti and she's available for our date, but she just emailed me her price list for this year and her cheapest package is 3500 now for only six hours of coverage, epics not included. I don't think we can swing it :o( 

    Has anyone used or met with Susan Sancomb? I was looking at her blog and it seemed really good and her prices aren't bad. 

    Also, has anyone had success talking a vendor down in price for a Friday wedding?

    My top three picks for under 3 grand 

    Tyra Bleek Photography - She is a new transplant to the Boston scene. Amazing pictures (check site). Very vintage.  She has two packages which is in your price range 
    1st package - $2500 is 8 hrs coverage, e-session, personalized impression case w/ 150 prints, DVD of photos.
    2nd.- $3100 full day coverage, everything listed above, photo booth plus 8 x 10 coffee table album

    Sweet Jane Photography $2800 - she shoots with two photogs with unlimited hours and pictures plus the disc with high res. picture. I believe she also includes an e-session - check her site under investment for more details

    Avenna Studio $2900 - two photogs (brothers), 9 hrs of coverage, box of 4x6 prints, two 8x 12s and one 11 x 17 print, high res images on disc, online gallery, You could ask to exchange the prints for an e-session.

    We are using Olivia Gird. Our package included engagement pics, 7 hours of wedding coverage, and an album and it works within your budget. She is great! If you look on my website, you can see some of my e-pics. Good luck!
