A couple of invitation questions

1.) To save on some money we're not doing reception cards for our invitations, instead we're just doing the knot website and putting the link on the invite. I'm trying to find the best way to word it. As of right now it says "for information on hotel accommodations and driving directions, please visit blahblahblah.com"
Does that sound too formal?

2.) FI is looking for jobs out of state. I like the look of our return address printed on the envelopes, but I don't know if we would be able to order them in time if we wait until he has another job. Would it look tacky to just buy an address stamp and stamp the address on the envelopes?

I had another question, but I can't think of it at the moment lol. I'll edit when I remember it.

Re: A couple of invitation questions

  • Sorry, I should clarify. We're doing RSVP cards, not reception cards with things like driving directions and hotel blocks.

We did think about putting my parents' address, but my step-father is unemployed and currently looking for jobs out of the city as well.

This is all just so stressful. I wish I had known when we set our date what our situation was going to be like and we would've pushed it out another year.

  • While it's not ideal, you could always put your current address on your RSVP cards and make sure that you forward your mail ASAP after you know where you will be going.

1- I don't think your wording sounds too formal. Can you fit the extra wording on the invite? I know it can look awkward on some invitations that may not have room.
Do you have a lot of guests who do not have internet access? You may want to contact them to make sure they're aware of the accommodations, so that may take some time.

2- How soon will you possibly be moving out of state? In your situation, I don't think it would look bad to stamp your new address on the envelopes if you move. Asking to use someone else's address may put you in a tough situation- I could only imagine if i did this, i'd be calling the person every day asking if any RSVP's came!

  • I think including a card in the invite that says "For driving directions and information on hotel accommodations, please visit myweddingwebsite.com" would be appropriate.

As for the return address, is there anyone you know who has a stable living situation right now?  Maybe your MOH or best man, a sibling, an aunt, a grandparent, etc.?  Obviously you wouldn't expect them to keep track of the RSVPs for you, just to receive them and toss them in a box for you to pick up or something.  Mail forwarding usually works pretty well, so it's not the worst option (and a stamp or printed return-address label would also be okay), but I know for me personally, it'd make me nervous to rely on the mail forwarding system to get RSVPs to me, and since it sounds like you and your FI could move at any moment, I don't know if labels would completely solve your problem

  • I think a stamp would be fine. And, there are designs that make them look really cool. Another option that I am considering is an embossed address stamper. I think it will look really cool.
