I Need help finding someone that won’t charge an arm and leg for alterations?

I finally found my dress I go pick it up on the 13th….YippyLaughing…. now I just have to get it altered I’m a size 2 and the dress is a size 8 so of course I have to get the dress taken in but I wanted to add a lace-up back and add a small red ribbon and a small amount of red detail to the dress. I would like to know how much you ladies think this will run me and if any one can recommend someone that can make these changes for me and not cost over 300…I am willing to keep the back the same and forget the lace-up idea… Thanks in advance…

    Hi!
I have a lady who works from her home in the Fairfeild area. She is FABULOUS! Her name is Lori and her contact number is 825-1987. Tell her that Robin gave you her contact info. She has done many of bridesmaid dresses for me, remade 2 bride friends dresses and is so very inexpensive. Definetly give her a call to set up a conciltation. You'ge got plenty of time to work with her before your big day! Congrats!!!!

I used Cindy Malinoff, in the Kenwood area.  She was recommended by Cincinnati Bride.  513-984-5104.  Lovely person, did a beautful job, and charged very little.

The job you described is not easy, especially going more than 6 sizes down.  I suggest going to Kim Dao's alteration in downtown near the Garfield Hotel, she specializes in trouble shooting difficult work.  And she's very inexpensive and she does a great job.  Her website:

I highly reco Lorie Schur in Fairfield too! She's one of my girlfriend's MIL and I absolutely LOVE her! And she's not expensive at all!  She took my sample dress size 12 and made it a size 4 w/out any problems!! She's amazing!

    Good luck!

Not sure about pricing but call Sallie Gregory in Mason. She will be able to give you a rough estimate over the phone, but someone will acctually have to see your dress before telling you how much it will cost. Her website is www.sewspecial.biz

Oh yeah, keep in mind that cheapest isn't always best. I've heard horror stories of girls having the dresses ruined by seamstresses.

Shes really sweet and her price ranges are on her website. She also gives free quotes. My BMs and I got our dresses altered there and it worked out great. I know other girls who have gotten dresses altered there as well. She will be honest if it is not possible.

I second Stitches by Pauline, she did a great job on my dress and I had to have it taken in 2 sizes, hemmed, and had a crazy bustle due to the size and shape of my train and she did all of it with pressing for under 300. And if your bustle isn't as crazy as mine was it is much cheeper! I am so happy I used her.
