Is June too late?

So, we are planning a destination wedding in FL for July 28, 2012.  I am a teacher and I will soon be on summer vacation, so I have put off booking a venue because I want to see everything in person before I sign on the dotted line.  The trip from TX to FL is more than a weekend trip, so I'm not going to be able to make it till early June.  Do you guys think waiting till June will make it hard to get one of my venues for the following July?  I'm nervous!  Undecided

    not necessarily.  but- if you have a few venues in mind, you could call them to see if your date is still available, explain to them your situation, and maybe they can hold the date until you have a chance to look at it?  worth a shot!

    agree with PP if they may not hold it exactly but give you a heads up if someone else is interested for that same day before you get down there to see it.

    It depends on what kind of venues you're looking at.  If they are made-for-wedding venues, then they might book up faster.  If you're looking at more hotels/banquet rooms, they probably won't book up as quickly.  Either way, I think you'll still be able to find a venue you love with over a year before the wedding. But definitely ask if they'll hold it for you!  I called my favorite venues every week for about a month to make sure our date was still available until we could make a trip for my FI to see them.  One held the date for us (no deposit) until we made our decision.

    Where in FL are you thinking of booking? 

    Like pp said it all depends.  Some places will hold it but as soon as someone else is interested in the place they'll let you know and you'll need to pay the deposit within a certain time frame which is normally 24hours.  But it doesn't hurt to call them and ask!

    Since its a DW you'll want to book and send out STD's to let your guests know ASAP!

    I agree with everyone else, you should be fine.

    Hey I noticed you are also in Houston. Good for you in selecting a destination wedding. I'm starting to think that is what we should have done. Everything is so expensive here in Houston. LOL!
