Loopy's wine and cookies thread made me hungry for cookies. And since it's been a while since we've had a recipes thread, I thought I'd start one.
So come on... share your most delicious cookie recipes! Or at least share what your favorite type of cookie is, so that I can go look up a delcious recipe for it.
Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies
1/2 c. butter, softened
4 oz. cream cheese
1 c. white sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
Makes about 24 small cookies
1. Preheat oven to 375. Cream butter sugar, and cream cheese until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla.
2. Combine flour and baking powder in separate bowl and gradually stir into creamed mixture.
3. Chill dough in fridge for an hour if you want to roll it out and use cookie cutters. If you're lazy like I usually am, you can immediately drop teaspoonfuls of batter onto a cookie sheet.
4. Bake for 7-9 min or until just lightly golden on top.
5. If you feel so inclined, you can using icing or sprinkles or decorator's sugar to make them prettier.
Note: As difficult as it may be to resist, these cookies taste best AFTER they have cooled for an hour or so.

White Chocolate-Orange Dream Cookies
Ingredients
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
2/3 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1 large egg
1 tablespoon grated orange rind
2 teaspoons orange extract
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups white chocolate morsels
Preparation
Beat first 3 ingredients at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy. Add egg, orange rind, and extract, beating until blended.
Combine flour, baking soda, and salt; gradually add to sugar mixture, beating just until blended after each addition. Stir in white chocolate morsels. Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets.
Bake at 350° for 10 to 12 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cool on baking sheets 2 minutes. Remove to wire racks to cool.
Not technically homemade cookies, but Oreo Balls

-1 package REGULAR Oreos. Do not use double stuffed or reduced fat. Those come out weird.
-1 block of cream cheese at room temperature. The room temp is important or you'll have a hell of a time mixing it.
-1-2 bags of your choice of chocolate chips.
-2-3 disposable cake pans
-wax paper
-tooth picks
Crush all of the Oreos. I like to put them in a gallon zip lock bag and hit them with something heavy. A metal potato masher works nicely. Put them in a big bowl when finished.
Add the SOFTENED cream cheese and mix together. Sometimes I mush it together with my hands, sometimes I use an electric mixer. Players choice.
I get a couple of the disposable cake pans from the store and line the bottom with wax paper.
Take a gob of the mix and roll it in your hands to make it round. I make them a litte smaller than the size of a golf ball and place them in the cake pan. This takes up about 2 of them total. Place tooth picks in the top of all the balls and put in the freezer for about 2 hours.
After they've been in the freezer, I boil some water and put the chocolate chips in a metal bowl and put that over the water in a double boiler type of way. DO NOT put the chocolate chips directly in the pan. Yes you will melt the chocolate, but then it will cook. It's not easy to work with after it's cooked and it tastes different.
I dip the balls in the melted chocolate and place back in the cake pan. Let harden in the fridge.
VIOLA!! OREO BALLS!!
p.s. they keep well in the fridge

Double Tree Chocolate Chip
INGREDIENTS1/2 cup rolled oats
2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1-1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1-1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. lemon juice
2 eggs
3 cups semi-sweet, chocolate chips
1-1/2 cups chopped walnuts
INSTRUCTIONS
Grind oats in a food processor or blender until fine. Combine the ground oats with the flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon in a medium bowl.
Cream together the butter, sugars, vanilla, and lemon juice in another medium bowl with an electric mixer. Add the eggs and mix until smooth. Stir the dry mixture into the wet mixture and blend well. Add the chocolate chips and nuts to the dough and mix by hand until ingredients are well blended.
For the best results, chill the dough overnight in the refrigerator before baking the cookies.
Spoon rounded 1/4 cup portions onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Place the scoops about 2 inches apart. Bake in a 350°F oven for 16-18 minutes or until cookies are light brown and soft in the middle. Store in a sealed container when cool to keep soft.

Orange Chocolate Sugar Cookies
-One tube store-bought sugar cookies
-1 jar orange marmalade
-1 bag chocolate chips
-wax paper
Line a cookie sheet with wax paper. Empty the whole cookie tube onto the wax paper.
Roll out the dough, almost to the edges of the cookie pan, so it's one big, thin cookie. Cook according to the directions. Remove wax paper with cookie from pan and let cool. Cookie will be crisp. Crisp=good for this recipe.
Once cookies are cooled, spread the marmalade over the entire cookie. Melt the chocolate chips and drizzle over the marmalade. Cut the cookie into desired size squares. A pizza cutter works nicely.
Eat as soon as possible. The marmalade will absorb into the cookie, making it mushy.

If you're a chocolate and hazelnut fan try this one:
1 1/3 c. flour
½ tsp. Baking powder
¼ tsp. Baking soda
¼ tsp salt (or no salt if using salted butter)
½ c. butter (room temp)
½ c. Nutella (any hazelnut spread is good, I just always have this in the house)
½ c. sugar
½ c. brown sugar
1 lg egg
1tsp. Vanilla extract
1cup chopped hazelnuts
Heat oven to 350, it might be 375 depending on the oven.
In one bowl mix flour, baking soda and powder, and salt. In new bowl mix butter, Nutella, sugar, and brown sugar. Cream together and add egg and vanilla. Slowly stir in with spoon flour mix. Then add hazelnuts.
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Spoon out cookie dough, but be careful these cookies will get almost twice as big when baked so give them room. It usually takes about 10min or so to cook and they taste awesome hot or cooled. Enjoy! ^_^
Candy Cane Cookies
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup confectioners sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teasoon red food color
1/2 cup crushed peppermint candy
1/2 cup granulated sugar
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Mix thoroughly butter, shortening, confectioners sugar, egg, and flavoritings. Blend in flour and salt. Divide dough in half. Blend food color into one half.
Shape 1 teaspoon dough from each half into 1 inch rope. For smooth even ropes, roll them back and forth on lightly floured board. Place ropes side by side; press together lightly and twist. Complete cookies one at a time. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Curve top down to form handle of cane (So they look like big fat candy canes)
Bake about 9 minutes or until set and very light brown. Mix candy and granulated sugar. Immediately sprinkle cookies with candy mixture; remove from baking sheet.
This is another cookie that people request that I make for all holidays and events.
Meringues
4 egg whites
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
3/4 cup sugar
1 pkg of JELLO (whatever flavor you want)
Preheat oven to 225 degrees. Beat egg whites and cream of tartar in small bowl with electric mixer on high speed 5 minutes or until soft peaks from. Gradually add sugar, 1 tbsp at a time, beating on high speed until stiff peaks form.
Drop tablespoonfuls of the egg white misture onto baking sheet covered with parchment paper. Sprinkle each meringue lighly with dry gelatin powders.
Bake 50 minutes. Turn oven off. Prop oven door open slightly; let meringues stand in oven for 1 hour or until completely cool.
You have to follow the directions EXACTLY for this recipe or else they are ruined, but they melt in your mouth.
