venues-back to square 1

So I am still without a venue because everything I like someone has a problem with.  I am very frustrated.  I want something for around 65-85 a head.  I would prefer something that is a little out of the ordinary (not to catring hall esque)  I am willing to go anywhere from Rockland all the way up to Kingston either side of the river.  I really like Locust Grove in PK but it is too expensive.  I need to seat 160 people and have a ceremony on site.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  TIA

    Are you willing to do a Friday/Sunday/Saturday afternoon in the offseason? If so, Patriot Hills is close to (but may be a little above) your budget.

    every vendor is going to have a bad review at some point. go with the majority. if most people haven't had an issue, you're probably fine.

    Kristin is right on with the PH pricing.  I'm you're flexible with your date, you may be able to get something in your price range.  We got a great deal at PH for our wedding date b/c they just wanted to get rid of it.

    Did you look into the Cortlandt Colonial yet?  http://www.ccrr.com/ I believe they have packages in your price range.

    Dutchess Manor in Beacon?  http://www.dutchessmanor.com/

    Thanks for the suggestions ladies.  I am looking for a Sunday, and I want July 4th weekend.  I really want this date but if I found a place that worked and had to change the date, I would be ok.  PSI- I am not worried about the reviews more pleasing FI and I's families.

    ok so what were the complaints about the other sites that you were thinking of?

    greentree gave me $80/pp for a sunday. probably a little more on the hall side, but it is a reasonable price.

    The requisite my-venue-is-awesome vote: Round Hill! =)

    Have you been? It doesn't feel like a "catering hall" at all, just an awesome old mansion. I'm not sure how much the prices have changed since I booked last year, but they had the prices you mention Friday/Sunday off season -- and that *includes* tax and gratuity, which means that it really falls below that per head, in the scheme of things.

    go look. ::nudge nudge::

    I went to round hill but it was out of my price range.  It was really pretty though.

    My wedding is at La Triestina. It's a restaurant in Congers. They have a website so you can check it out and the prices are in your range. There is a tent and gazebo outside too.

    I live in Congers :)  Never been to La Triestina, but you can get some beautiful pictures right down the road at Rockland Lake- or even Congers Lake!

    I think your price range is a little low if you're set on a summer wedding.  Is that range including tax and gratuity?  Are you paying for the wedding or are the parents?  It is your day and while some of their comments may be practical/helpful (like is the bathroom really inconvenient or can Aunt Marie in a wheelchair get around) if they're just commenting on decor and things you may want to talk to them about it because you are likely going to face this same problem with every stage of your wedding.  Are you going to want everyone's opinion on the band, the photographer, your dress, etc?  If you don't try to guide it as your affair, they are likely to have opinions on these items and more too.
