when to start looking for the dress?

I'm getting married July 2011 but I want to lose about 40 lbs. before then...I don't want to order the dress too early and have to get tons of alterations.  I was told 6 months and then today someone mentioned I should order it 9 months before...any advice?

    My cousin that is getting married 3 weeks before me (mine in June, hers in May) has not yet even tried on a dress. I bought mine already...I have 15 vanity lbs to loose. If you go early try to look for dresses that have a corset back...you can tighten it up more if need be.

    I ordered mine 6 months out, but you should find out the estimated ordering time for you dress because they can differ based by designer or company. Between 8-6 months prior is a pretty good estimate though for ordering your dress. DItto PP about corset backs; they are very figure flattering and can help cut down on alteration costs.
