Venue/Resort Suggestions

Hello-
I am from Iowa and my fiance from Washington so we are considering a wedding in Hawaii. From the research I have done it seems the best location is Maui, specifically the Wailea area. We are currently planning for the end of July/start August 2012. Does anyone have suggestions as far as locations?  The four seasons at Wailea seems to be the best location I have found so far. Thanks!

    How many people are you expecting? Our group is tiny and we couldn't justify the costs with a private location and we are doing it on a more secluded part of a public beach.

    To add to pp...it also depends on whether you would like a public location such as the FS...my personal favourite for a resort wedding on Maui...or a private estate such as Sugarman in Makena...near Wailea...or Olowlau.  Welcome to the board and congrats on your engagement! HTH! J. :-)

    I agree with all of the above.  I looked at the resorts when we first got engaged and they couldn't offer me the package I wanted for as many people as we are having without it being outrageously priced.  Instead, we chose Olowalu Plantation House and are bringing in all the vendors for our 50 person wedding.  We had more flexibility in planning, and it's a beautiful  location!!

    Has anyone heard anything about Makena Resort?  I am getting married October 22, 2011 and am still looking for a venue.  I would like to have a wedding and reception at the same site.

    Any comments would be greatly appreciated!
