passport name change

I'm slowing getting my name changed on everything, and need to get started on my passport. Was it difficult to do? I looked up that I needed to send the original marriage certificate, or a certified copy. I don't really want to send the original, so now I have to get a copy. Is that hard to do? Any suggestions or tips on making this as smooth as possible would be great. Thanks!

They will send your marriage license right back to you. Might not be worth the trouble to get a copy.

I just got my passport and wasn't too happy about sending them my birth certificate, but I had it back within 3 weeks.

You do have to send one or the other. I sent the original, and got it back along with my old passport in about a month. Super easy, just make sure you send everything the first time! I wouldn't bother with getting the copy, but that was just me.
