I'm here.

Just waiting for H to get home, coloured my hair, might go get my QLD drivers license tomorrow.

The really serious dilemma? My hair is falling out in chunks again. Last time it happened was right before the wedding. Which was about this time last year. So since it never happened in the States or Europe, the only constants are the time of year and being in OZ. Either way, my hair is thin to begin with, I have none to spare!

Oh and I am much better, thank you! I had yesterday off and spent the day sleeping. I'm still sick but about 234853247 times better than I have been, so no more complaining shall be coming from my direction!

well originally from NC, but in UK for the next few years and getting married back in NC. I have another SN but it was my email address and i cannot change it so had to create this one recently to start posting some E questions i was having

the summer is over here. it rains EVERYDAY now, so gloomy....but we are off to Italy next week, so I cannot complain!

I was going with stress until I remembered that "right before the wedding" was also this time last year. Although it came out in chunks until I landed in France, so OK, we can stay with the stress assesment.

Are you stressed? How are you feeling about Cairns? What is the weather like up there? Are the people as... country beachside hick, I guess, as I would imagine?

Packlite: are you marrying a guy from the UK? Or there for business/pleasure?

Sun, My diet has gone to crap. I do best on a high protein diet and we just can't afford that up here. (or example, pork is 17 a kg...)

Ah, the people of FNQ. To answer your question. Yes. If you are wearing shoes AND a bra, you are over dressed. and the hippies, sorry, "eco tourist backpackers"...well not much else needs to be said.

Hmm perhaps it's diet and stress combined?

We get delicious pork loin for half that price (albeit in one of the low SES suburbs nearby- they have a high proportion of Vietnamese immigrants living there and have fantastic meat at very reasonable prices as they all buy in bulk). Are there any options to buy in bulk up there to keep the price down?

I can ask H about the SES areas here. There is a very large Asian, Italian and Greek population. In fact so large, the retail positions right in Cairns require you to speak Japanese too.

I know we are looking into buying half a pig and half a cow.

Well we do have a 650 L side by side fridge. But if we get the meat it will give H a reason to buy a freezer. Then he can keep his bait out there instead of in my meat drawer... grrr

my FI is in military so we are now stationed in the UK, however my job also transferred me here as we have an office in the UK - so I am here on work visa. We love it! We are traveling Europe every chance we get! Off to Rome next weekend

I do have a question for the international brides....how did you handle your name change with you travel documents? Since we will only be here for about anothrt 18 months I am thinking that I will keep my last name until we are back in US. The legal name change would require passport AND visa changes and from what i have read this can take up to a few months to finish. I don't want to delay our exploring Europe b/c of a Visa or Passport SNAFU.

What do you think?

My name in Australia is my married name, but officially my passport and spousal visa are still in my maiden name.

We got married and moved to to France, so I needed my passport until we settled in OZ. I may change it now, or I may just wait until my permanent visa comes through in two years and change it all then.

Until I decide, I get to fill in the "other names you are known as" boxes.

@aMrs yeah I am thinking of just waiting. whenever we are out people will know us as Dr. and Mrs packlite, but the legal stuff i think will be a headache since we are out of england at least once a month traveling. Its one "dilemma" that i certainly cannot complain about!!! We love the opportunity we have to live overseas. Sorry to hijack the dilemme thread but maybe my travel dilemma kind of brought it full circle

we're in cambridge! but in london A LOT!! going to the notting hill carnival on sunday actually and were just there last weekend to see whoopi goldberg in sister act

we spend a few weekends a month there it seems.

i have sticker visa in my passport. expires in 3 yrs.
