Military Brides

Hi everyone

Hi ladies,
I'm Amy Lee. 28 and doing this again for the first time lol. I was married before but not to a military guy. I even planned my wedding on this site! Anyway, my guy left yesterday for the Middle East and I am feeling pretty empty. I was hoping some of you ladies who's loves are deployed would kinda know the boat I am in.

Thanks for listening:)

    Goodness:)
    Thanks for the warm welcome:)
I dunno! I think it will be as soon as he gets back from his deployment. He just left but he doesn't go for very long. I dunno about colors and whatnot. I know he wants to wear his class A's. It is so weird, thinking about marrying someone I am actually HOH in love with! Makes everything so much better!

    Thanks again!

    Hi and welcome!

Deployment sucks :( There was a thread a few days ago where lots of the ladies were posting advice for what to do when Fi is away, you should check it out! We're definitely here for you.

haha You don't know?! What is wrong with you?!!? kidding... I remember when we first got engaged everyone was asking 500billion questions and we were like aaaahhh we donnnnoooooo O.o

Yeah my FI is wearing his Summer Whites for the wedding so we went with Royal blue and yellow to be true Navy :P Although it's not themed, so no navy stuff everywhere. Just the colors were inspired by it.
How long is he deployed? I"m really glad that my Fi only deploys for 6 mo.. my dad is in the army and was gone for a little over two years! nuts...

I'm glad you get to talk to him! One benefit of him being Special Forces is the shorter deployments (even if it does up the worry factor a bit!) You're definitely not a lunatic!!! But it's easiest if you don't let yourself dwell on the worry. Then it takes over your life and that's no good. Keeping busy and distracting yourself with other things is very helpful! Taking a day or two every so often to mope or freak out or whatever you need to do is good, but you can't live that way for 3 months!

Did you mean you think you'll have the wedding as soon as he's home? If that's the case you'll be plenty busy working on that!!! 3 months is a pretty quick timeframe.

Just be warned that deployment times are estimates, so give him a good two months at least after he's supposed to be back before you schedule the wedding to give you the least stress and most chance that he'd be there!

I'm actually a bit apprehensive of going to visit FI at Parris Island this summer.  We have only been immersed in the military culture through Officer Candidate School and through being around other military guys at his law school - he went straight to law school from OCS graduation (literally - we drove down from OCS and he started law school the following day after we arrived).  So this summer is his first immersion in Marine culture, and I have to wait until TBS to be surrounded by it but I'll get to visit this summer at least once.  I just feel like Parris Island is a rather intense introduction - his temporary residence is within hearing distance of some of the recruit depot workout areas, so I'll be woken up every morning that I'm staying there to DS's screaming at recruits. Fun.

Calindi, OCS won't make him change much.. he'll be a little stiffer (hopefully in more ways than one since it's been a while) but after a couple days he'll melt back into the person you know and love. It's definitely intensive but He did law school which is also intense. :)

yeah deployments suck.. my dad was only suppose to be gone for 11 months and it turned into about 26. />_< The thing I hate most is that they can't share everything. Fi and I tell each other everything, so that part is annoying...ooooh well, comes with the territory :)

I know his return time is kinda wishy washy. Our wedding isn't really going to take a lot of planning. There are a few things that I want, but I don't care if it's a Tuesday in the rain in my pajamas when I marry him. I just want to be his wife!
