  Go outside and do something, no more internets. When I would get all wound up, FI made me mow the lawn. If you don't have a yard, I highly recommend a costco hotdog and and wandering around the store. It's only a $1.50!

  Diamonds are pretty, too. I have a diamond. I wanted moissanite. I told FI about it, we researched it, and then when he saw a diamond and a moissanite next to each other, he liked the diamond better so that's what he got me.
  
  I love my ring.
  
  Just communicate with him about what you prefer. Do research together if that's how you guys work. But if you're going to leave the decision up to him in the end, you need to trust that anything he gives you will be from his heart. And you're going to love that whether it's diamond, moissanite, or a plastic gumball machine ring. Don't worry.

  As long as you tell him, you might luck out! My BF really really HATES white gold, I prefer white gold, but I know he will get me yellow gold, but alas I will take whatever he gets me. Its hard not to think about it though

  Tell him! He may be relieved, since they don't seem to cost as much as diamonds.
  
  Though, he might get you a diamond anyways if he wants to be traditional. I have the same concern... I've made a pretty strong case for a non-diamond ring, but I'm wondering if he is going to go for the diamond anyways.

  I think my bf is going to propose without a ring, which is fine by me. He seems to want me to help pick it out but also wants it to be a surprise. I'd take a twist tie (like Apertisa), a straw paper, a drawn-in circle ... I'm flexible.
  
  But the moissanite discussion here prompted a chat with bf. We talked about diamonds vs. moissanite, aquamarine, and other options. I think we're still heading for diamond. He's pretty traditional!

  I doubt he is psychic so I would definitely tell him you opinions on moissanite vs diamond.
  
  PS- I don't think your near the crazy perch..unless of course you already bought the ring and placed it in his pants pocket to find..
