Venues: Anyone know of rustic, elegant venues in the Hamptons, North Fork or Shelter Island?

We're struggling to find something large enough for 175 guests but not a wedding factory.  Thanks!!

I'm getting married at Raphael Vineyard in Peconic (North Fork). Their capcity is 180. It's a beautiful place with total indoor capabilities if the weather is bad. The staff there has been wonderful to deal with.

Not sure how many people you can have but I've heard nice things about Marth Clara Vineyards.

    Melanie--

I just had my wedding at Driftwood Farms in September--it was absolutely wonderful. It helped, of course, that the weather was perfect :-) Everyone raved about the view and the property--we had our ceremony out on the bluff.

The only thing to be aware of is that EVERYTHING is ala carte. Your site fee ONLY covers the cost of using the site. Everything else--from bathrooms to the dance floor to the power generator to insurance to food, tables, chairs, linens, etc. will have to come from separate vendors for a separate cost.

I'm not saying this because the owner tries to disguise that fact (she doesn't, she's very nice and very straightforward about everything) or because it's unusual (for this type of venue it's very typical)--but for any bride on a budget (as I was) it's good to keep in mind how fast everything can add up. :-)

It also requires a lot of organizational skills to plan since you must juggle a LOT of different vendors--were I to do it all over again, I might have hired a wedding planner to help me set everything up.

Oh! And I almost forgot--here are some pictures. They're from a friend; the pro ones aren't in yet: http://www.flickr.com/photos/44450302@N07/sets/72157624913436063/

Have you looked into any of the wineries yet?

You got the ring. You have the man. Life is good. Now what? Document it. The crazy, the fun, and the happy moments that make up your lives. Check out my work, or give me a call and well gossip about all of your fun details for the "BIG" day! Thanks so much for considering, Stacey www.showandtellphotography.com www.showandtellphotography.blogspot.com

Can I ask what you were quoted for Driftwood farms?

Another budget bride here. My FH and I are desperately looking for an outdoor, quite spot on Long Island  and it looks like a possibility but I don't want to call up and find out is way out of price range.
