Jeez. First, I get a lady who's irate because she couldn't get on an earlier shuttle than the one she booked (the earlier one was full). Insists she booked the earlier one in the first place, when I know she didn't because I booked her myself.

Then, I get a lady who wants me to hold seats for her until Monday with no payment up front. Uhhh...no?

Then I get a guy who speaks Chinese and very little English trying to look up a credit from a previous reservation. He changes from a round trip for two to four one-way rides and doesn't understand why the price is different. I can't explain it perfectly because I don't speak Chinese. He's not doing anything wrong, but it's frustrating.

GAH! Who else has run into some thuper thpeshul people lately?

A lady from the bank that BF and I talked to a few days ago just left me a message and called BF the completely wrong name after stumbling around for what to say for a good 30 seconds. Maybe it's just me, but when I call someone for something official/important I try to at least have their names in front of me before I dial... This wasn't her first glaring blunder either, we won't be dealing with her.

I set up insurance inspections for vehicles that have been damaged. Now I always try to book the best time for the customer and try to get it on the earliest day possible. There is always the one person who, after I say the earliest appt I have is..., asks do you have anything earlier?

Once upon a time, I knew a girl who worked in bankruptcy. She once dealt with a client who needed something filed, and since the girl was only a receptionist, could do nothing but pass it on to the paralegal. The client called every hour on the hour for about three weeks because of how long it took the court systems to get the document online (for the poor receptionist to check), and the backup that the firm was experiencing due to the flood of clients. Apparently, said client was thoroughly obnoxious, and would often call screaming, and so our poor receptionist began keeping tally of how many times the client would call. At one point, it hit 32 times in a day. At which point, our poor receptionist, with self-control of a saint at that point, almost screamed "WOMAN, I CAN ONLY DO SO MUCH. CALL BACK IN A WEEK." But refrained from doing so. She's very glad she no longer works in bankruptcy.

I had a guy call work to ask if a Ukranian woman with a bachelor's degree in psychology would be a good choice for him to hire as the director of the child daycare facility he wanted to open.

Someone also called to ask if they walked 10,000 miles west of Las Vegas, where would they end up.

There are others but they escape me.

These are funny...

I get 'em all day, too.

Our office has a phone line that is listed as a storage company we used to run. Said storage company is not really in business, and in another state. We keep the phone line open only to drive me insane. It has a different number and ringtone.

I used to get calls all the time asking how much our units are, sizes, etc. Well, now that Storage Wars is on TV (awesome show!) people call in all the time asking if we have auctions. No. Go away.

In my summer job people would call and ask me what they should do to bear safe their food. I would tell them. Then they would tell me how I had it wrong and it was perfectly ok to leave their food out on a picnic table as long as it was in the ice chest. I would politely try to tell them they were wrong but they insisted. Karma is a bitch bay area people (no offence to anyone on here who is but some of them can be just plain dumb)

I enjoyed hearing the stories about the bears breaking into peoples food. No it is not a good idea to leave it in your tent.

How bout people calling over and over 10 times a day asking if their doctor has called in their lortab yet. Especially when they know that WE call THEM when it's done. If we haven't called you...we don't have it!

Oh the peach of the day. The man who called and asked if we had Oxycontin 60s and if we could fill it and then he could give us his prescription when he got here later... uh NO. not to mention EVERY single Oxycontin 60 prescription I've EVER seen has been a forgery

andplusalso we don't even carry them anymore, because pharmacies were getting held up...and now a pharmacist is on trial for shooting a gang member with a gun trying to rob his pharmacy. true story.

I used to work at Hallmark and one day around Christmas we were five minutes from closing when the phone rang. I answered and a frantic woman asked if we had any white square plates with gingerbread men on them. We in fact did because they were a hot Christmas item we were selling.

I told her we did and that we only had about ten left in stock. She then proceeded to keep me on the phone for a good ten minutes asking me to look at all of them for cracks. Then she asked me about twenty more times if they were square and white. I was getting annoyed and frustrated but assured her yes!

She then asked me to box them up and she would be in tomorrow to get them. She wanted to purchase all of them because they would look so cute at her Christmas dinner table as dessert plates.

As my co-worker was boxing them up the woman proceeded to ask me to make sure they were white and square. By this time I was fed up and through gritted teeth I told her they were. And then she said ," They have gingerbread men on them right?" I said yes!

My co-worker, who wanted to get home just as bad as I did, grabbed the phone out of my hand and politely but sternly said.

"Ma'am, the plates you are asking for we have them. Yes, they are white! Yes, they are square! Yes, they have a gingerbread man on them! We have the plates you are asking for!!! It is late, we are closing so please refrain from asking those questions again! They are all boxed for you and will be waiting for you in the morning. We do know how to do our jobs! Thank you and good night!" With that she hung up.

We then busted out laughing and it's now a running joke between us whenever we see one another now.

My colleague was talking on the phone to a particularly chatty client a few weeks ago. He was super busy and just wanted to hang up, so he finally said, "Okay, lady, I'm really busy." He didn't mean to say it, but it just came out! She started to get really offended, and he said, "Oh, sorry, I wasn't talking to you. My, uh, assistant is named Lady and she was bothering me about some paperwork."

I have no idea whether the client believed him or not, but we all cracked up. Anytime he asks us to do something now, we say, "Okay, lady." Haha!

I work in a hotel and it's pretty upscale. The suites have a full size kitchen minus an oven. So no, we don't have rates under $100 per night. But you always have the people trying to hassle you for a lower rate. The lowest I can go is usually around $98 unless they have a special rate for their company or whatever (but those are only available with reservations. Preparation pays, people!!) I had one guy argue with my boss and I about the suite rate and how he wanted to pay $85 when the rate was $159. Yeah, no. Sorry bud. I don't care if you list us in your little travel book and "stay here all the time", we don't have a contract with you and you're being a douche.

Bella, I used to be obsessed with notalwaysright.com! I've definitely done my share of crazy customer service jobs. Truly, I'm pretty lucky where I am now, because most of the time, people are really nice. "Minnesota Nice" is definitely not a myth. Yesterday was the exception, though. Man.

I was going to post my own story about a client who has called me 12 times in the last 4 days and showed up at the office because I forgot to respond to one or two of his phone calls, but I see lots of complains about similar people on here. Why do these people call back every 1/2 hour if they know (and they do know, don't they) that nothing works that fast??? I just spoke to the client this morning and told him that the status won't change for at least a week because I am an intermediary with another office that has 30 days to make the change and he said, "oh ok, so I'll just call back this afternoon." I should have piped up and told him not to call back for a few days, but I just really wanted the phone call to be over so I said ok and hung up. I'll be paying for that in about an hour when he calls back to see if anything has changed yet.

When I used to work at BBB I had a customer come in around back to college time. Her son was going to be a freshman and she was sent to buy everything he would need. I walked around with her for a while and picked out some stuff for her son. She then proceeded to ask me all about college, and broke into tears asking me if her son was going to have sex.

OH MAN. That is just crazy. How does it get so bad that you unload all of that on a perfect stranger (who obviously isn't old enough to have a teenage son)? Haha. Did you answer any of her questions? I don't know what I would have done back when I was in retail, but these days, I have much less tolerance for crazy and would probably find a graceful way out of that conversation...

I work for an insurance company and my work converted over to a new system Feb 1 (which was supposed to be wonderful and make everyone's lives easier and ended up being an epic fail, but that's a whole other story). Because of the new system we were delayed a few days taking payments out (normally it's the 1st business day of the month). Well one client figured because we didn't take out her money on time that meant she didn't owe us the money so she spent it. And then when we attempted it on the 8th she got an NSF, which caused some other pre-authorized payments to also go NSF. She wanted us to refund like 4 NSF fees and pay all her bills that wouldn't clear for the rest of the month. Did I mention we either e-mailed or mailed a letter to every single client informing them of the delay?

I had a customer get offended by sausages. Apparently our seasonal sauage offering did something horrible to her, because when I suggested she try a new kind, she asked if it was anything like "THOSE FUSKING XMAS SAUSAGE THINGS??!!" Umm...no? No is the safe answer here, right? Please don't jump the case and put me in the meat grinder, angry customer.
