Alternative to Bridemaid's flowers

Does anyone have a sugesstion other than real flowers that bridesmaids can hold? I really dont want or feel I need to pay much on flowers but I dont the girls holding nothing. What would they do w/ their arms without something to hold?

    Our wedding is in the Fall. I was actually thinking of something cheap  and creative.

    Clutches. I've seen a couple weddings where the bridesmaids had clutches that matched their dress or were the "other" color. At one wedding, the bridesmaids wore navy and they carried fuschia clutches- it looked awesome. AND then the girls have some place to put tissues, lipstick, etc. which comes in handy for you when you need a little makeup touching up before the bridal party entrance.

    I'm doing clutches also.  I found these for $20 each on Amazon.com.

    I saw some pictures where the BMs held cascading crystal beads looked lovely.  I suppose it depend upon what time of year your wedding is.  Fall they could hold artificial leaves, winter muffs or kissing balls, etc.

    I've heard of using pinwheels or balloons, which look really fun!

    There was a wedding featured in the Knot magazine where the BM's were carrying a bouquet made out of paper seashells bunched together.  It was in Hawaii so it fit her beach theme.

    Have you thought about decorative leaves or maybe some branches of pussy willows or something?

    Are you doing a fall theme or is it something more cultural or artistic?
