Underthings...and to spanx or not to spanx?

Hi!
Getting down to the alterations time, and I'm wondering about underthings.  Here's the situation:
-  My dress is not poofy at all (more form fitting a-line) so I don't think I can do a corset-like bra or it will show thru, but need support in that area.
- I am wearing sandals so no stockings necessary.
- I have a bit of a tummy pooch that I'd rather not be obvious (we all have our self conscious places!).....these are the issues!

SO....
1. Where did you purchase reasonably priced bridal/appropriate undergarments?
2. For girls that have worn/will wear Spanx...which did you choose and are they actually comfortable???  I want to be comfy- my dress already is and shoes are ones I've already worn, so don't want to not enjoy food or be yanking up underthings!
3. Other suggestions for comfortable support?

Thanks girls!! :)
Jennifer

I love Spanx.  They are really comfortable and have all kinds of styles to hide any problem area - I have the lower tummy/butt/thigh shaper and I wear it under all of my nice dresses.  They are kind of pricey, but I think they're well worth it, since they're really well constructed and will last a long time.  Hope that helps!

I am a huge spanx fan, I'm going to wear them under my dress.  They are perfect for tummy pooches and smoothing away panty lines.

Get the Spanx!!!  True, they are a bit expensive, but SO worth it!  Plus, you will wear them again, not just a one time purchase.  I got some last year for a BM dress and will wear this year for my wedding.  Plus I just wear them all the time when I wear a dress (my thighs rub together) and they help immensely!  I have the one that goes from bra line to knee and it is still super comfortable.  Make sure you get the correct size, because if they are too big, you will see a line running all the way down your midsection.  Good luck!
