Outdoor Locations

Hi girls,

I am an old knottie that is now planning my best friend's wedding. I was on the knot a lot when I was planning my own wedding and received SO much help and advice that I thought I could stop by again.

My best friend is having a HUGE wedding- close to 400 people. Obviously, she needs a huge space and would like to find one outdoors where she could possibly rent a tent. Does anyone have any ideas?? I've racked my brain but my wedding was pretty average, around 150 people, so I can't think of any places that could hold that many. TIA!!

What is her budget? What area is she looking for (City)?  The more details the better... there are plenty of venues that can hold that many, but some are very pricey. So knowing budget would help.

I'm not sure about how many people deering estate holds or really any other details about it, but it's gorgeous and outside :)

    Mariposa,

Thanks for replying! She is definitely trying to keep the budget as low as possible, crazy, I know, with that many people. :/ But she is trying to see what's the cheapest that she can get and decide from there. Anywhere in South Florida is fine, from Brickell to Homestead. Do you have anything in mind?

    Remy,

Thanks! I thought about Deering too, but it only holds around 120-150 people Max. :(

The first one that came to mind was Vizcaya. I know for a fact they can hold way more than a thousand, both indoors and out.

Is she looking to have only the ceremony outdoors or the whole thing?

Ceremony will be at a church. The reception would be outdoors. I thought about Vizacya too, but the cost to just book it is beyond anything she can afford.

How about Parrot Jungle (Jungle Island) Treetops?  I don't know what the capacity is but it's pretty big and it's gorgeous. Doral Golf Resort might also has enough outdoor capacity.

I was thinking Schnebly Winery, but I think their max is 300. I would try big open spaces like Metro Zoo, it's exotic and neat.

Unfortunately, for that many people, outdoors, it's gonna be on the pricier side. Let me try and think and see if I can remeber anything else.

The palmetto bay center is beautiful and able to hold that many people. It's also not crazy expensive.

my friend had her wedding there.. and it was just gorgeous. she had dinner outside and dancing inside.

Keep in mind that tents for a reception space outdoors for about 150 people run anywhere between $800-1000 and she will need 3 tents minimum. So even doing it in a large yard or park will easily come to $2500 just for tents. I don't know what kind of budget she has.

Is cutting the guest list simply out of the question?

    Mariposa,

Thank you, Jungle Island and Doral are great options!

    MissDeVito,

That's a perfect spot!! Thank you for the suggestion!!

    Gatorgirl,

Trust me, I've told her! They both have huge immediate families, coming close to 250 people, then there's friends, and other people their parents want to invite. I don't think she has really wrapped her head around the cost yet...so I'm trying to help give her a better idea of how it's really going to be.
