So, Scott called to tell me about this.
http://edition.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/africa/07/12/uganda.bombings/?fbid=7aL1hJkU2BHAnd I immediately starting crying.
If this happened a week ago, he would have been in Kampala. And, he's been spending a lot of time in restaurants watching the games. And he just discovered he likes Ethiopian food. I know that last one is nit picky, but come on, seriously?
Currently, he is 4 hours outside the city, but oh my christ if I am not freaking out right now.

Re: Freaking out.
it reminds me when my brother called me from Iraq to tell me that the week before the tank in front of him was hit by a IED and 3 of his friends died right in front of him. i cried to.
so glad everything is ok!
The thing is, Scott had NO IDEA it was 2 bombings. He was just like "oh hey, my friend said there was some explosion in a night club in Kampala last night" and then I googled it and freaked. His friend supposedly gets alerts from the UN, and we aren't sure why she didn't. Not very comforting, really.
I emailed his parents so hopefully they won't freak out wondering if he is ok. His dad gets up at 5 in the morning and watches the news for 3 hours, so hopefully he catches my "he's fine! he will call you today!" email before he sees anything about it.
He cannot come home fast enough.

[QUOTE]That is scary. Uganda is just a scary place in general.

Im going to have to agree with this statement.
Seriously though. Uganda...it's probably the scariest and saddest place in the world.
So yes, it is a scary place, and I'm glad he's safe, Kim.
Steph, he got interested in Uganda through Invisible Children, but ended up not getting an internship through them and going independently. He went for 9 weeks to fulfull his internship hours (he is getting a degree in Global Studies with a concentration in conflict).
He should be getting online soon and I get to break this news to him.

Thanks for your well wishes everybody.
Bil is at the US Embassy in Liberia for 2 years so my sil does google/ news searches every day if he doesn't call at a certain time. She's going to visit in August and I'm going to be holding my breath the entire time.
