hot enough in Destin?

Hey girls,
Me and my Fi are planning a vacation in March but we aren't sure where we want to go...
Is it warm enough to swim in March in Destin?

    I'm not sure I would get in the ocean in March, but I know a lot of people spring break to Destin and Panama City in March.  If you're not from here, you'll probably think it's warm enough. 

    If you want to swim though, I'd go further south.

    I would use this awesome tool for acurate weather even tho it's for outdoor wedding planning it will tell you what you need. You also might want to look into when spring break is to avoid the craziness, unless you like the crowds.

    Hi there! I don't post often but I saw your post and wanted to give my 2 cents.  I grew up in the area and though I love Destin to death, I wouldn't recommend swimming in the Gulf in March.  The water is still a little cold.  You have to remember thqt the water temp is a couple of degrees off from the ambient temp.  So if its in the low 70's you can expect to still be much chillier.  The only people that actually "swim" at that time of year in the Gulf are the Snowbirds and people there on Spring Break.  The only upside is that since it is the Gulf of Mexico the water is a little warmer than if you were on the ocean somewhere.  So if you really want to swim then go for it! 

    There's also a ton of vacationers there so if you can put up with the crowds you could be in good shape.  They tend to think the water is warm so a few of them do swim.  Destin in late April and through mid May is great because by then the water is warmer and the summer crowds haven't settled in.  You have until Memorial Day before a ton of people start showing up.  One other thing - If you go, try hanging out on Crab Island.  Definitely a fun place to chill!  Have a great vacation!
