I understand I'm new and all of that, but I was pretty upset on someone (don't remember who, nor do I really care) saying I wasn't going to come back because i hadn't posted for a week. No, I don't spend all day on the internet because I work two paying jobs and I have two volunteer jobs on top of that. So I don't have a lot of time to sit in front of a computer reading about weddings and engagements. I had joined the site and started looking at the boards trying to make new friends who, like me, are kind of waiting for a ring (while enjoying my current relationship very much, thank you) but I kind of got the feeling that this place was closed off and exclusive. I understand that all kinds of people come onto this site and I'm not going to get along with all of them, but to seriously say on my post that I'm not coming back because "they never do" Really? Exactly who is they? New people? I thought this place was about meeting new people who are interested or planning weddings.
Re: Rant
jeezus. Really?
Calling it a P&R is not an insult. I was not insulting you. Put on your big girl panties.
And exactly WHY couldn't you say this in the other thread?
And yes, new people often post a question or random paragraph about nothing and then never return. Yes, it's new people. If a reg here posted and never returned, we'd probably be worried about them.
This place is about meeting new people, but you need to grow some thicker skin. There was absolutely nothing in that thread that would require you to make another thread pouting about it.
Here's a link to the bracelet.
I really do apologize again ladies. I didn't mean to pout or anything. I tend to make friends easily in real life, but not online. This is probably why lol.
This place is a bit cliquey at times, and I don't like that either. But there are plenty of people who are open to seeing new faces and making new friends. If you decide it's not worth your time, I can't say I blame you, but if you stick around there are others here who want exactly what you want from the board - some people to talk to who are in a similar position that you are in.
[QUOTE]Ok, I overreacted. I apologize, wrkn. I'm not too good at message boards because of my 4 jobs and I tend to get the "who the bleep are you" post everywhere I go. I posted a new thread because I wanted to find out if this board really was exclusive or inclusive. Here's a link to the bracelet. I really do apologize again ladies. Read my other response. I could sit here and reminisce with you about the days where I worked full-time bartending, part-time at an office job and was finishing my second assosciate's degree. It blew like a hundred-dollar hooker.
There are people that know each other here and tend to understand moods and reactions better. Stick around, and you will get it too. It doesn't take long either, just come around randomly when you have some free time. Say hello, tell us what's going on, and we will welcome with open arms.
The best news is, my knot memory blows, and I will forget about this in a week.
We aren't inclusive here, as long as you're not walking into our circle flipping us the bird.
[QUOTE]Here's the thing - I do think some of the girls are a bit nasty at times because they think it's funny. I don't see the point personally. While most noobies do one post and disappear, we all were noobs once so some obviously do stick around. This place is a bit cliquey at times, and I don't like that either. But there are plenty of people who are open to seeing new faces and making new friends. I agree Cate, some posters can get a little overly judgmental and snarky at times. There are plenty of gals on here though that are really nice and just like to offer honest opinions and advice. I would suggest you stick around OP. Once you get to know the regulars around here a bit...you'll find girls you like. Just ignore the ones you don't.

Yeah, that's what I meant.

Thanks :) I'm sure wrkn didn't mean anything by it. I'm not used to sarcasm so I guess it's something I get to learn to get used to!
I will return in ONE WEEK to read your responses. kthxbai.

<div>Grandma's birthday is Oct. 31. It's been a running joke in the family. It's turned into a reality since she's gone senile. Oh well...she's still easy to mess with :)</div>

I would agree with you, but that would make me a snarky cliquey uppity beotch that thrives on being nasty to people for no reason, right?

[QUOTE]I didn't plan to actually...just came across this post while responding to another and thought I would agree. I just think this board should be what it's really for...and from my experience on The Knot, it isn't.

I'm curious if you actually read this entire post because the OP admitted she overreacted and apologized.
I'm not sure what you expected this board to really be - the board has a dynamic just like any other. This is a not engaged yet board and many of the posters here aren't engaged but there are a number who are either engaged or married and offer their advice from experience. This board in particular is NOT for wedding planning since a good amount of the posters are not engaged so there aren't as many wedding related questions here as there is on the other boards. The planning posts that are seen here are made by the regulars that frequent this board and want advice/input from the people they talk to on a regular basis. We don't sit here and validate bad/crazy ideas and we don't sugar coat anything. That's just how it is on this board.
ETA - wow that was pretty rambly. Sorry, it's late and I'm sleepy <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-embarassed.gif" border="0" alt="Embarassed" title="Embarassed" />
