I have been thinking about this for a while. We have a DJ available for the music. I am not looking for traditional music. The ceremony is outside. I was thinking about having the girls walk down to Jason Mraz - I'm yours/somewhere over the rainbow .. and myself walking down Train - Marry Me. Both are meaningful songs to both of us.

is this tacky? if i do decide to do this .. i was thinking of playing that actual song as opposed to the instrumental versions so the guests actually know what the songs are. 

Has anyone done anything similar? thoughts? suggestions?

    I also plan to use untradtional music. I want to have the wedding party walk into Boat Song by Jj Heller. No idea for myself yet.

    I don't think it's weird at all. Like MrsK said, if it is meaningful to you and your fiance, then go for it.

    Then again, our ceremony music includes songs by the Pixies and Queen, so I am all for going with what works for you guys.

    I'm walking to Marry Me too!  And its still undecided for the wedding party but it will be a song too instead of traditional instrumental.  This is becomming more common these days and Its definitely OK, especially for an outdoor ceremony :) I think church ceremonies are the only times it may not work, depending on the church.

    I love those songs!  I am using Marry Me as a prelude song before the ceremony starts and my BM's are walking to the Hawaiian version of Somewhere over the Rainbow.  Our ceremony is in a Church so we have live singers and piano players, but I have see those songs performed by them before and they were beautiful, our singer acutally plays the ukelele as well so he is going to play it with Somewhere over the rainbow, I think any personal touches you add to your ceremony are beautiful!
