Searching for a Church

I've been browsing these boards for several days now and thought I would write my first post! Our wedding is planned for August 10, 2013 and I am struggling to find a church for the ceremony. Our reception will be held at Grigg's Boathouse in the Hilliard/Upper Arlington area. So far, I've found that few churches hold weddings for non-members and those that do are fairly pricey. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Do you or your fiance have family in the area that attend a church? It might be possible to get a discount on the fee that way. I'm getting married in the church that I attended growing up as a "member" even though I haven't been on since I moved away because my parents still are and because we have history there. The other thing to know though, is that churches charge a high fee for non member use, but recommend that members pay a comprable amount in donation for the use. 

    Do you attend a church/are you religious? If you're not religious, why bother trying to find a church for the wedding, it might not be worth the hassle/ money. If you don't attend a church, why not? If you're in the process of looking for you, you still have time before your wedding to find one and become a member. You also might be able to hire a minister/retired priest/ pastor, etc to perform the ceremony at another venue. My final suggestion (and I have no idea what the cost is) is to look at chapels at some of the universities in the area. Capital and Otterbein have religous affiliations and might have chapels avalible for use. I have a friend that did that at Ohio Weslyan.

    I found it hard to find a church that would let us get married w/o being members. The only one i found near where I am (dublin) is Dublin Community Church. I think quit a bit of knotties get married there?
