nuvaring

okay, so it's the second nuvaring .. insertioning and this time went better than the last time.

maybe they all have this, but i noticed that this one had a section that was slightly slimmer, and that's where i bent it.  there was much less twisting of both ring and body this time around.

btw, i totally think nuvaring should have gone the silly bandz route and made them in different colors and shapes.  i know i would have enjoyed sticking one of these into my hoohaa, rather than a plain plastic jelly bracelet:

dh thought that the nuvaring should be oriented horizontally, rather than vertically.  i said it didn't matter, just as long as it was in and i didn't sneeze it out or whatever.  apparently, dh thinks the nuvaring should be holding my hoo open like an umbrella (where it would make some kind of whistling noise whenever i walked).

so this round is going okay.  i still think this whole thing feels like witchcraft.  i mean, i should have been equally suspicious of the patch, but at least i put a new one on once a week.  this thing just hangs out, so i feel like it should either be wearing away (which would make me question what goes on inside there) or should be made or sterner stuff like an iud (but that would lead me back to the origami folding).

As usual, I rate your analysis AWESOME.

    I love this.

It also reminds me to find DH a urologist.
  • I'll be on this next month, I hope. My doc wouldn't put me on the IUD; he wanted me on Depo, but I really wanted something more localized and that I can reverse. Can you imagine being stuck on crappy hormones for 3 whole months?

I liked depo, but, BM, that's one of the reasons I almost didn't do it.
(although I want depo back...but I'm not allowed)

I hate the umbrella image now :P

I also loved Depo. Even with H's snip, I'd go back on it in a heartbeat if I could - NO periods and no problems, at least for me. Damn osteoporosis risk. Boooooo.

I hope you have good luck with nuvaring, bmom.

  • Does it slowly dissolve?  Like one of those icky old-fashioned air fresheners?

Stick it to 'em with Stick-ups!

I just a friendly gal looking for options.

are nuvarings one size fits most, or do you have to get sized, like when you go get new glasses?

they are one-size, and they don't dissolve. I guess the hormones are inside the ring and slowly leach out? I guess I should know that.

Random: Remember Scrubs? They had NuvaRing posters in just about every scene. I have to wonder how much NuvaRing paid for that product placement.

this is the real reason that Michelle Duggar shuns birth control - until they start making a "big floppy vagina" size, she just can't keep one in.
  • Baconsmom, what's going on?  I thought you were super bff with nfp?

IIRC, the cramps and general menstrual hell finally pushed her over the edge into hormonal treatment.

  • Yeah, it's my period. We're infertile - well, the two of us together, anyway, we don't care enough to figure out why or if it's only one or both of us.

I'm just done with the cramps and the bleeding so heavily I can't leave the house and the whole deal.

If we move, I'll contact a gyn myself and go get an IUD. I don't want to have to fck with finding a doctor twenty seconds after we get there. I want time to find a good one.

  • Yeah, I do have to admit, periods off the pill are pretty rough.
