  Apparently, Heydenshore has ample photo ops and you're close by the water - did you just want an alternative background for photos?  Are there any funky buildings around Heydenshore?  What about downtown Whitby?
  
  You should also give the marina a call to be certain about the no public access.

  I was in a wedding about 4 years ago with the reception at Heydenshore, and we took pictures by the water and in the park - they turned out great!

  Thanks for responding, ladies!
  I just wanted alternative options and backgrounds.
  I have been looking for an old run down building or something with a lot of character but can't seem to find anything close by. 
  I'm sure the pictures in the park and water will turn out fantastic, just wanted something unique

  What about the Whitby waterfront park?  You can access it from Brock St. South ( just west of the Marina)
