  Not wearing white to a wedding is a very old rule but really only applies to wearing an entirely white outfit (the theory is that if you're wearing all white, you could be mistaken for the bride, however silly that might seem).  I think a white sweater over a blue dress would be an absolutely fine and appropriate choice.

  I think it's fine.  Besides, I had a woman wear an entirely white pantsuit to my wedding.  So, whatever!  Haha....

  I think wearing a white sweater would be fine. You might be cold and put it on or get hot and take it off. I think lots of people have white and black sweaters that they wear over dresses. And its not fall/winter yet so why wear black!

  Wearing a white sweater is fine. I worke a black and ivory dress to my uncle's wedding and it wasn't an issue. I think it's the idea that no one else should be in a long white gown except the bride.
