Help keep my FI and I from killing each other?

We're making our wedding website, and have come to an impasse on the registry page.  He wants to link directly to our registry, I think having a link right to our list seems a little crass, kind of gift grabby.

What do you guys think, should we have a link right to our registry?

Re: Help keep my FI and I from killing each other?

  • i would that way  pple can go right from your site to ideas
  • I think ettiquet wise, it's just fine to have links to your registry on your website.  The biggest place it's not okay is to have the registry info on the wedding invitations.  Website is fine, though.

  • I know it's okay to talk about the registry on the website, but having it link right to our page on bed bath and beyond seems a little rude.  I'm probably just crazy though.
  • I have been working on our website all day! I haven't gotten to our registry yet, but I plan on linking it right to it. If I were a guest, I would find it easiest to just click and go. I can never seem to find couples when I just search for a registry.

  • my friend registered at target when they were getting married and 1/2 of us couldnt locate them.. i had to shop without a list
  • Looks like I'm beaten on this one! Darn, he's a gloater...
  • lol 1 battle won by him but us women have the strings  for war lol
  • I wouldn't be opposed to a link, especially for those who have a hard time getting around a computer as-is.  I wouldn't put it directly on the main page though, maybe under some sort of other/misc heading.

  • Ditto flutterbride - as long as it isn't the first thing they see when they get to the page, it's not gift grabby at all. In fact, I think it's pretty much the norm now to put the link on the website!

  • I completely agree with flutterbride.  I'm going to put mine in there just not on the main page.  Probably on a misc page.  I have way to many family members who are very tech savy and then the other half are complete moroons when it comes to making anything electrical work.

  • I think they're already on your website looking for information, it's fine to be there.  But others made a good point about it not being the first thing you see. I have mine under Registries on the sidebar navigation.

  • We put the link on the 'Registries' page on the side bar.  Thanks for the advice, you're all right that it really is easier linking right to the registry, especially since the search is by name and my FI has a REALLY common name.
  • there you go..  now you will win the war lol
