Hiring Set-up help

I am having a very DIY wedding. Well it started that way but now I want some help....I have decided to hire a coordinator to help with the organizing of vendors, and basic set-up of cake table decorations etc, but none will do any major set-up work (i.e. moving tables, carrying up cooler). Where can I hire someone to do this from?

Re: Hiring Set-up help

  • I'd like to know this too.

I don't have too much to do, but I do need someone to put the centerpieces on the table, set-up the guestbook, and put out the escort cards.

  • I actually just asked some friends to do it for me when I got married. I had a group of 3 girls who were already coming to the wedding and they handled the major parts of the set-up for me. I asked them if they would do it as their wedding gift to DH and I and they were more than willing.
And now we are as one

  • Sounds like you need a day of coordinator.  I'm using Ashley Joseph of Two Be Wed.  She is great and has helped me on the phone with plans leading up to the wedding - not just "day of". Cannot say enough good things about her and very reasonably priced.
  • taskrabbit.com is really cool. they are opening the market in houston soon and you can bid out your event help.
  • I am having a super casual reception in the backyard - but that means it will require ALOT of set up work.  A co-worker has a son in HS who is ALWAYS looking for extra money - so we are hiring him and his friends to set up our entire reception area.  I'm not sure if this is an idea that could help you out!  There are always young people who are more than willing to help!  Since you're only looking for someone for heavy moving, this could be a great way to help out willing workers without spending too much!  Good luck!

  • My coordinator is doing all the cake table set up, placing centerpeices, votives, placecards, pictures and some linens.  I know she is also moving some flower arrangements for me but I'm providing a guy friend to help her.  I don't think a coordinator by themselves could really move heavy tables or carry items that weigh alot.  I think if you at least provide them a friend to help them then they would be able to do it.  At least it seems that is what works best for what i was needing on the heavy side of set up.
  • Thanks for the tips. As far if a day of coordinator, I am working on hiring one, but all I have talked to say that isn't included. I can't have any of my friends do it or they will have to miss the ceremony. I would hate to ask them to do it. I am working on finding someone like a family friend to pay to do it, but am not having much luck.

<div>I was referred to a day of coordinator that specifically made packages to fit your needs. Her name is Kelecia and she has a company called 1 OAK Events (1oakevents.com) And i have a friend who has hired her as a ay of coordinator, and its weeks before the wedding and she's there to help with vendor follow ups, appointments with vendors, and etc, shes a heaven sent lol. Since your issue has been that the coordinators you've meet with state what you're asking isnt included im pretty sure Kelecia would be a great fit for you because she has a la carte services that she can offer and make into a package to fit what you're looking for.</div><div>
</div><div>Hope this helps and Good Luck</div>
  • My day-of coordinator has agreed to do all of the above.  I can send you the list of things included in "day-of" she provides/will do.  Let me know if you'd like me to send it to you.  She has been great, don't know what I would do without her.
