Should we have a rehearsal?

We're getting married at a hotel and I'm not sure if we should have a big formal rehearsal. Our minister will not be in attendance so I can just imagine that it will be a waste of time for my bridal party members to come just for that night for 10-15 minutes of walking up and down the aisle.

Re: Should we have a rehearsal?

  • I would talk to them about what would make them feel more comfortable.  They'll at least need to know what order to stand in and where exactly you'd like them standing.

We got married at the venue and didn't have a rehearsal. About an hour before the ceremony, our DOC walked everyone but me lol through the ceremony. See if your venue will do something like that ours had it built into their timeline. For some reason my phone won't use select punctuation. Sorry about that!

  • I always think it is smart to have some sort of rehearsal or walk thru of the events.  People tend to get excited and nervous and confused during big events like weddings and they want to know exactly what to do so that they don't screw up and look stupid on your wedding day.  This is especially true of people who have not been in a wedding before.  That being said it doesn't have to be a huge formal rehearsal.  People just know what order they are in, practice walking down the aisle, who they are walking with, where they are sitting or standing during the ceremony, what part the readers need to get up to do there thing etc.  If you don't want to do a big rehearsla dinner afterwards then invite everyone to your house or a local bar.  Keep it small and you should be fine!

  • We did our rehearsal about 15 minutes before the ceremony.  The Rabbi ran through it really quick.
  • Thanks everyone. I don't think we're going to have one. We're not having readings or anything like that and it's easy enough to tell people the order of whose going when.
