Engagement Ring Designers/Brands?

I'm not a brand snob, but I know there are brands that are known to be more reputable and of better quality than others. What are some good, reputable names that will impress and what are the ones to stay away from? I'm sure there are threads like this but I didn't see one on the first 2 pages. I love the style of Tacori, has anyone heard of them?

Tacori is great! I have seen many posts about Blue Nile being great (I don't know if you consider them designer), also Brian Gavin, A. Jaffe, Ritani,  Scott Kay ,Martin B.

A lot of people have Verragio rings but I have seen a couple posts about them actaully being poor quality for what you pay.

    Hope this helps!
  • Tiffany.  But you are paying extra for a brand name.  And really, you shouldn't go around telling people the designer of your ring, because then you sound like a snob.  If someone asks you, fine, tell them.
  • I am obsessed with Tacori rings!!  They were a little out of our budget for what I was wanting for a setting-so my ring was made to replicate a Tacori style.  But they have amazing rings.

  • I like the idea of finding a reputable jeweler to deal with rather than a specific brand.  The jeweler should stand by their product and be willing to help you with any services that you need.  They will hopefully be there for you through the life of the ring to retighten stones, polish or clean it, fix it, or anything else that you need at no cost.

The only brand I have ANY actual recognition of in terms of rings is Tiffany.

Mine is custom-designed, so has no brand-recognition associated with it, but I am so proud to tell people that my FI designed it!  And as a side note, ditto to PPs that brand-name dropping when casually discussing your  engagement ring sounds snobby.
  • I stand by Blue Nile all the way. My FI got my e-ring there and was able to custom design it and the whole nine. When it didn't fit quite right, the return/resizing process was quick and painless. I e-mailed Blue Nile to tell them the order #, what size we wanted it resized to and they emailed back literally within the hour. It CAN get a bit pricey, depending on the size of the diamond and the setting, but it's nice to know nobody has my exact ring anywhere.

  • Thanks guys! Very helpful advice.
  • I also like the tacori style. My ring is based on one of their designs. My FI went and talked to a local shop that sells tacori, and they wanted 8 grand for a .25 diamond. (the center stone). He ended up going to one of the smaller shopes and finding me a similiar style for 5 grand and that included a .75 center stone. I don't think more money always means better quality. If you find a style you like shop around a little.
