Chanhassen Dinner Theater

My fiance and I thought we had our venues decided---- Centennial Lakes Amphitheatre for ceremony and Uptown VFW for reception, and we were going to reserve our date this week.

Then we went to the Wedding Fair and are falling in love with the $6600 All-Inclusive Wedding package from Chanhassen Dinner Theater. We wanted to do something different and a bit quirky---which is why we were going with the Uptown VFW. Having our ceremony and reception at the Chanhassen would definitely keep that uniqueness that we were looking for. It is more than we would have spent having it at the other locations, as we were going to cater our own reception with food from Sam's Club, but this would take off so much stress. FI is totally in love with the idea of the Chanhassen, but I am still on the fence. I was really excited to sing karaoke in my dress at the VFW. :) Has anyone had their wedding or been to a wedding here?

Here are the details of their package.

Our All-Inclusive Package is valued at $10,000+ and includes:

Honestly, that sounds like a really incredible deal... and the Chan is just soooo adorable... I'd do it if I were you ;-)

I've never been to a wedding there, but my sorority did have a formal dance there once, and it was great. I could see it being a fantastic wedding venue. In fact, I totally considered it when planning my wedding, but thought all my WI-based relatives would whine about the drive.

I've been to a wedding at the Chanhassen Theater.  It was nice, but I would maybe ask to see the room first.  I remember the room being a little odd shaped.  Maybe that was just the room they chose or how it was set up.  Also, the room for the dance ended up being upstairs from the reception dinner room.  It worked out all right.  People who wanted to dance made their way up there.  Others who didn't want to dance pretty much left because the bride and groom were up in the dancing room, too.  Again, I'm not sure if this was what the bride and groom wanted or if it's just how Chanhassen operates.  However, the food was good enough, and it was a cool venue.  I would definitely look into it a bit further.

I would think that that's just the way it was set up for that wedding. Assuming someone could rent the same room that we used for my sorority formal, it was all in the same place. As I recall, it seemed that we were in one of their smaller theatres and the dancefloor was at the bottom (where the stage normally is/would be) and there was a bar off to the side... and then the tables were on mutliple levels that ascended upwards. I distinctly remember thinking 'this would be a cute wedding venue!' distinctly because of the layout ;-)

It's funny you mention this actually. A customer at my second job mentioned that she's getting married at the dinner theater in a few months and I looked up the info just out of curiosity since I'm pretty much dead set on Centennial Lakes Park :-P

A friend of a friend had theirs there recently and I was told that it was a really unique, cool wedding. They had the dance in the room where people practice ballet dancing I was told-- the kind with mirrors all around and ballet bars. I saw some pictures and it was neat. I would agree with pp to definitely go and check it out and see what room options they give. I would also make sure that you can use your Sams catering option and that they don't force you to use their catering. I didn't see food on your list (unless I am just blind).

Does the package include dinner? Or is the food seperate from the $6,600?

Sorry, a couple of the lines copied and pasted with a dark background. A plated dinner and salad for 150 guests are included with the $6600. The other thing that pasted weirdly was a day-of-wedding coordinator.

I think that is a pretty good deal then!!! What happens if you have more than 150 guests?

It is $40/person over 150. The good news is that we wanted to keep our guest list at 150 even before we knew about this.

Thanks everyone for sharing your opinions on this venue! We are going for a tour on the 23rd, so I will most likely post after we do that!
