DIY vs MUA

Now this is just a question...and I'm wondering if other knotties have thought of it before....

So this weekend was b-pics for me and the MUA I had scheduled couldn't make it and so I decided to do my own make-up...

Well my friend (which was soooo awesome helped me out ALOT) was blown how I had done my make-up and when Ashleigh arrived she was like "you did your own make-up?!....man you are talented" and I got the proofs already (I know) and she took some pretty close up of my face and here I am thinking "hey I did a pretty good job"Laughing

So the BIG day approaches quickly and $$$$ is going like crazy and I'm trying to hold on as much as I can...

Now I'm wondering should I just take the risk and do my own make?!Undecided It would save me $150...

Or should I just sit back and relax....Undecided

What do you ladies think?

Well I'm getting a MUA only because whenever I try and do my own for a special occasion something always goes wrong.  So for that day I don't want to chance it. However my FI is not happy that I am having someone else do my make up not because of money but he thinks I do a better job anyway.  Personally I would be too nervous to do my own. You said your friend helped maybe you could do the same thing for your wedding and start your makeup and if it isn't going so well maybe your friend can step in and finish it for you. GL!!!

    Do you wear makeup everyday???
if you do and you know how to do it and make it last all day I would say sure go ahead and do it.
But for me - I don't wear it so I really really needed to have someone come and do it.  And honestly with everything you will have going on the day of you probably are going to just want to relax and let someone else do your makeup.
Trust me I understand the pressure right now - everyone wants their money at the same time it seems and it gets stressful.

Plus your going to have Laura taking your getting ready shots - have them of someone else doing your makeup rather than you doing it.

    Hey girl!

Well I also considered doing my own make up for the day of, but I'm so glad I didnt.  On the morning of I was so nervous that I don't think there was any possible way I would have been relaxed enough to even do the eyeliner straight. And I love make up and know it would have looked good but I really am glad I didnt do it myself that day. Also, there's a lot going on and your mind is going crazy...at least that was me. But if you think you can manage to put yourself together and be relaxed and able to do it then go for it!

    GL!

I kicked around the idea of doing my own make up, but then I realized that since I was spending a ton of money on the pictures and video I really should leave it up to a professional.

Having my make up done the day of my wedding was one of the few moments of complete calm prior to the ceremony where I wasn't rushing to do something.

It was a really good way to destress and worth every penney.

I agree with the ladies. I know $150 is a good chunk of money to save, but you shouldnt have to worry about it on the big day. I say get it done!
