QOTD

Have you even been on a diet?  What weren't you supposed to eat?  Did you follow it to a "T" or did you cheat?  How long did you last on it?

I've been very lucky and have never had to watch what I eat so I have never been on a diet until NOW.  My wedding is 48 days away and I am trying to watch what I eat.  Let me tell you how much it sucks not to bake chocolate chip cookies or eat ice cream after dinner.  Instead I'm eating apples or raisins.  March 16th, I'm gonna eat all the ice cream I can find on Maui!

I went on the Atkins diet for a little bit (maybe for 2 months or so) and I totally cheated on it.  The thought of no chocolate was a bit much for me, that and I ate a ton of meat.  I can't imagine doing that again.

Last Spring I was doing weight watchers and I liked it but got lazy and didn't want to have to count points.  I lost about 16 pounds in 3 months.  I didn't have to cheat on that because I could eat whatever I wanted but I had to do much smaller portions.

I'm pretty much always on a bit of a diet. But the term 'diet' for me is totally different than what a lot of people think it is. It's primarily eating certain foods and staying within a reasonable range of what I should be.

Most of the time, I eat 'right'. But I do allow myself to eat the bad-for-you stuff when I feel like it. I just try not to go overboard.

Also, since I've done fitness competitions for years, I do go into a stricter diet mode for roughly 3-4 months at a time. At those times, my diet is much more rigid and planned. I eat specific foods at specific times in order to get to where I need to be. That even includes weighing everything I eat (I love my food scale). However, I do schedule 'cheats' and 'refeed' days, which is crucial to incorporate on any 'diet' in order to break the plateau, so to speak.

I used to be kind of obsessed with counting calories and exercising.  I guess that is a "diet" but I didn't call it that.  I've never done South Beach or anything like that.  I would last like a month, then cheat, then get back on.  Now I am up a pants size, but much happier.

I did Atkins for like a week in college and Master Cleanse twice. Since then I've just done the whole watching what you eat/tracking calories thing. I'm also a vegetarian, so I guess you could say that's a type of diet.

This must have been before you were vegetarian.  When I was typing that I did Atkins I thought of you and how disgusted you would be with that diet.

I've never been able to diet. I am too weak to forbid myself to eat someting. It just makes me want it more!!   Major props for anyone that can stick to a diet.

With that being said, I have cut down my soda and coffee intake. It's all about moderation for me. I've got to lose only a couple more inches to fit into my wedding dress :p

Oh yeah, it was! And even then I thought it was kind of gross and too meaty. Plus, since everything HAS carbs, it still limits what you can eat. You can eat low-carb, but I was still kind of hungry if that makes sense, because I would eat tiny portions of chicken and stuff.

I'm not totally grossed out by meat (I don't cook it, but DH eats it), but massive amounts of nothing but meat are a little nasty.
