Reception Questions

I am having an outdoor reception in July. The tables are long picnic tables. We are having deli meat & cheese trays for sandwiches and assorted salads & sides. I want it to be informal, but not "picnicy"

Here's my questions:
Would clear plastic plates & silverware be ok, rather than renting china & flatware?

would linens be better than paper napkins and plastic tablecloths?

I am having a heck of time finding vendors in my area....all that I have found are a about 45 minutes away.

thoughts??/

IMO with the type of food you're having clear plastic & paper napkins would work.

You could use linen tablecloths (I HATE those plastic ones), but still use the plastic plates and paper napkins and be ok.

If the tables are decent-looking, you could just use a runner down the center of each table to keep that 'rustic, out-door' look.

I think it depends on what your guests are wearing.  If they are dressing formal then nicer tableclothes are in order.  You can always plan to resell them on the fourms rather than rent them (it's pratically the same price as rental and your helping out another bride down the road).  Check out efavormart.com (they have good prices).  I think you can get away with some plastic items but plastic plates are not going to work if it happens to be windy... can you imagine a plastic plate flying up and landing on someones best outfit?  A big problem with real plates is who is going to take them away and how/ when do they get washed etc.  Good Luck!

We were just at a fundraiser where they had this kind of stuff and everyone loved it and until we touched it we all thought it was real and not plastic!!! It went over great. I think it would go great with what your going for. Pricing is reasonable at around $4.00 for 40. Best part is no clean up!
