Centerpiece help

I have been having a really hard time figuring out what we're going to do for our centerpieces.  I think I would like to do something like this:

(lace-wrapped candles in varying sizes)

but I don't know what if anything to add.  My mom suggested rose petals on the table, but I'm not really sure.  Would white pumpkins be too much with this?

    What are the colors of your wedding?  If you are doing an all white wedding then the white pumpkins might look ok, but I think you need a touch of color.

    Cream, gold, copper, a little maroon.  BM dresses are brown.

    Oh I love that look! But I agree that it needs a little something more and that color would help. I am doing luminaries on the table with tin cans and pine cones spread around with votives. Maybe you could find something that fits the theme/feel?

    We are using bittersweet for the boutonnieres, maybe incorporating that onto the table with the candles???  Or am I totally crazy :)

    what about some ribbon near the top in one of your colours? I think petals would also be really pretty.

    What about doing the smaller votive candle holders in gold?  I'm not sure if I would add a whole lot extra because the vases are so pretty as they are.  And if you get the containers wide enough where they take up a good area in the center of the table, you won't need to do a lot more.

    You could always get those flattened glass marble thing, (I really have no idea what they are called), and spread those around the table for some color.

    I would not do whiite pumpkins, but add a splash of color on the linen - use a table runner -  you can rent them for around $5 a table or buy them online for like $2 bucks thru a wholesale company. Love Love Love the candle idea - we were going to do something similiar with hurricanes but ended up finding tall mercury glass pilars that I'm doing carnation balls on top of!

    Thanks for all of the ideas!!!  I like ribbon idea a lot--I will try that. We are using napkins that the venue provides, so any linens would have to match that.  I'll ask them about runners.
