Rehearsal Dinner Invites?

I heard that I'm supposed to be doing invitations for the rehearsal dinner. I always just assumed it was just told to the bridal party. We are not doing anything big. Just having the bridal party and their significant others over to my Aunt's house for some food.
Anyone else doing invitations?

Re: Rehearsal Dinner Invites?

  • I actually just ordered our rehearsal dinner invites! I found a cute poem and got 30 invitations for less than $20 which really convinced me to get them. We've already talked to most of our bridal party about it but we thought it would be nice for them to have all the information right in their hands. We have to go the venue for the ceremony rehearsal, then my future MIL is hosting a dinner for us at a restaurant so we have a good amount of info that they need to know. But if you are only going to your aunts house and no where else then I don't think invitations are necessary.

I think it's really your preference though. If you know that everyone that needs to be there knows the all information then don't bother....might as well cut the cost if you don't need them!

  • we are doing ours word of mouth. we are having a relatively small wedding (40 people including ourselves and an infant). we wanted to keep things in the immediate family since we do not have attendants (except my daughter). now if my mol would just stop inviting EVERYONE it would be fine.

  • I'm not 100% sure if I am doing invites yet, but if I do they will be very casual. We are having dinner accross the street from the venue after rehearsal. We are having a large wedding, but are paying for it all ourselves so we are only paying for the bridal party's dinner. Not drinks that night or significant others. But, everyone is invited. We have a lot of out of town guests as well, but CAN NOT pay for them all for 2 nights! So they will have a not in the hotel welcome package inviting them to join us for dinner but on their own dime!
  • my mil did invites and sent them out around time of our regular invites. that way we had an rsvp to my mil who is throwing it for a head count.

  • Since our wedding is in FL but 80% of guests are traveling from out of state we are having a dinner for all out of state family that will be there which is combined with the rehersal dinner. So when we sent out invites there was a response card for the actual wedding and another response card for the dinner. This way all the stationary matched and it was easy for people to RSVP...they just needed to send back both cards in the stamped envelope.

  • Thanks everyone! I think I'm going to go with the e-vites.

We are d oing a simple cookout type think at a neighborhood clubhouse. We are sending out invites. I got them from Wedding Paper Divas. I am hoping to have them adressed by next week!! I'm only sending them because 70 people are invited, so it would be too many to just do word of mouth.
