Day-of-Coordinator?

Has anyone hired one?  How much was it?  Was it worth it?  Thanks in advance!

Do you have a friend you could designate?

I feel like that depends on a number of factors.  For example, if you have a lot of DIY things, a coordinator could be helpful, especially if you won't have access to your venue before the reception.  It might be worth asking your venue first though, as they often have a designated person for that.

If you don't have someone at your venue, I think it's definitely worth looking into, assuming you have room in your budget.  It took a lot of stress off my mind knowing there was someone in charge of getting things done correctly (mine was through my reception venue).  She got the tables set up, coordinated vendor deliveries while we were at the ceremony, and handed out envelopes I gave her before hand that contained tips and such so I didn't have to worry about forgetting.

I actually looked into this a month or two ago and found it to be a little pricer than I had hoped. If memory serves me starting prices were around $850 and then went up from there. I couldn't justify spending that much to make sure centerpieces were in the right places and gifts were packed up at night. I have a group of friends and family members that will be helping instead.

If you can afford it I'd say go for it!

My wife and I went with a day of coordinator.  We searched for one that wasn't too expensive, but that had good reviews (we actually got a review from a family friend that used them).

We found this to be perfect for us.  We got it because we wanted ourselves and our guests to be able to enjoy the day rather than have to work.  We could have asked a friend, but all the people we trust enough to handle what the day-of coordinator handled, we had as guests!

All in all, it was nice having someone for all our vendors to go to instead of all to myself and my bride, and it was also great having someone who could be watching over the reception site and putting up our DIY stuff while we were all getting ready for the ceremony (in a different place).

We went with elegant design events, a mother-daughter dynamic duo who were so very helpful but did not overcharge us for the day-of service.  For anyone with a fairly extensive wedding, i'd suggest the day of coordinator.

My FI and I hired Sharon at KISS Events. She has been awesome. We only hired her as a day-of coordinator, but she has already met with us twice, and accompanied us to look at a reception venue. The first time we met with her she told us "if anyone asks you a question on the day of, your one response is 'go ask Sharon". It will be nice to be able to enjoy our guests and each other, without worrying about the DJ, Caterer, Photographer, etc.

Came across this idea on the budget board.....someone suggested trading services with another bride...i.e. I'll be your DOC and you be mine. Of course it would be difficult to determine if someone was really up for the job. I personally love planning events, and have coordinated several fundraisers, so I actually have some experience in making everything come together. I'd be interested in looking in to this possibility if there is anyone else interested and maybe has some similar experience with events.
