  • We did 'as long as you both shall live. Seemed a little less morbid.
"In the old days my ass would be in your back yard picking cotton, so excuse me if I don't put much stock in how f*cking awesome the old days were." -Nuggs
  • This totally reminds me of that Tales from the Crypt episode where that guy was obsessed with Mariel Hemingway and he gets a love potion but gives her too many drops and becomes obsessed. She like, dies somehow and her zombie corpse comes back to be obsessed with him some more.

We got married in a Catholic church and weren't allowed to write our own vows. I think the priest just said "for richer or poorer and as long as you both shall live, through good times and bad", yada, yada
  • for the vows we ended it with "from this day forward"
for the commitment we ended with "you are my best friend, and i will love you always"

The original version was, "till death us do part."  And we used the vows from the Church of England ceremony, which included it:

    NotFroofy:

I, NotFroofy, take you, 2dBride, to be my wife, to have and to hold from this day forward; for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part.

    2dBride:

I, 2dBride, take you, NotFroofy, to be my wife, to have and to hold from this day forward; for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part.
  • We firmly believe that love transcends the death of the body so we will not use either of those phrases. Most likely we will word it something like MissIntentional did, "from this day forward, forever" or something like that.

  • We did "For as long as we both shall live". Like PPs, I though " 'til death" just sounded way too morbid. I believe our vows went something like:

"I, Meg, take thee, DH, to be my husband [insert something about me loving him even if we're homeless and he has the flu and a Nyquil addiction here] from this day forward, for as long as we both shall live"

  • I overheard FI watching some wedding-related TV show and the couple's vows included "until separated by death" LOL, I bring that up whenever she wants to talk about vows.

Married in Vegas - June 2011

  • Our vows didn't include that, so I like to tell DH he's stuck with me for all of eternity, not just until one of us kicks it.

Vegas, I can't remember what show it was, but while we were planning I saw one  where the couple said "I vow to be food for your soul".  For the longest time we couldn't figure out vows aside from "Well, I certainly can't vow to be 'food for your soul' with a straight face", lol.

  • Our vows also end with "for as long as we both shall live"
  • We're doing "...all the days of my life."
