Looking for unique reception space in the NW Suburbs

Hello! I'm getting married next year (May-ish) and I'm looking for a unique reception area in the NW Suburbs (elk grove, Arlington Heights, rolling meadows, schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, etc.) I am looking for something that is NOT a traditional Banquet Hall. We're having a small(ish) wedding with approx 85 people...

Any ideas and suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!!

Could you perhaps add a little information?  By unique, do you mean offbeat as in Pinstripes Bowling in South Barrington...or theatre-esque as in The Metropolis Ballroom in Arlington Heights....or as in restaurant with private rooms? The Arlington Race Track hosts weddings.  Are you looking for anything outdoors?  What type of budget per person would you be considering?  Are you looking for casual, or elegant, or kitschy?  I might be able to help in the areas moreso from the Arlington Heights, Palatine, Long Grove areas.

Hi! thanks for getting back to me!
I'm thinking "unique" as in not in a boring banquet hall. I would love something outdoors, but with the unpredictibility of chicago weather, it's probably not the best option.
I would love offbeat and kitchy. I'm trying to buck tradition at every chance I get (much to the chagrin of my fiance!) The buget is tiny. it's just the two of us finding the whole thing so we're trying to be as frugal and careful with $$ as possible. I would love to keep the whole thing reception under 5K

Thanks so much! I look forward to hearing any ideas!

Unfortunately, there isn't much "uniqueness" to the suburbs.  There are some airplane themed restaurants, such as Pilot Pete's, Lynfred Winery in Roselle, The Onion Pub in Barrington (a microbrewery), or The Seasons of Long Grove, which has a beautiful outdoor covered patio.  There are several forest preserve areas, such as Busse Woods, but there is no real "Plan B" for inclement weather.  Twin Lakes in Palatine has a pretty venue that is different from a traditional banquet hall.

Otherwise, there are several nice restaurants in the Schaumburg area....Wildfire, Biaggi's, Maggiano's.....that would be able to accommodate your party size.

I don't know what halls you looked at but we found several unique rooms in the suburbs.  We are similar and had original planned a wedding at the Irish American Heritage Center.  It is difficult to do unique on a small budget though.  In order to get a trendy location you have to go a la carte which can get expensive.  Wish I could help you more but I only looked at halls/rooms that held 200+.

Our wedding was at the William Tell in LaGrange.  Our room had exposed brick rafters, a fire place, and a 2nd floor lounge space.  Our room was the Atrium room but there is another one called the Terrace room with stained glass windows.  This is the terrace room.  Obviously it looks less orange 70s in person.

ETA: Sorry I just saw your thing says NW not SW.

The Millrose in Barrington.  Had my parents 50th anniv there - but it was small.  Don't know if they do larger parties or weddings.

i got married at the embassy suites in deerfield. the atrium is full of beautiful trees, plus a koi pond and waterfall. we did the ceremony and pictures in the atrium, so it was like having an "indoor outdoor wedding." in fact, some of our pictures actually look like we're outdoors
