Any Federal Ballroom brides?

Hi, looking for anyone who used the Federal Ballroom as their reception site. What did you think of the site, staff and service? Any snafus? Things to look out for? What was perfect? What wasn't. Which caterer did you use? How did it go? Good value?

Thanks in advance for any input!!!!

For me, it came down to Federal Ballroom and another location, and I went with the other location. It came down to the fact that I did not have enough room in my budget to spend on decoration to make the ballroom look like I wanted it to for my wedding. It's a nice open space which is a perfect canvas for specialty lighting, custom dance floor, specialty things like a photo booth or small sitting room. Definitely very flexible spot. But I just couldn't really bring it up to par for a wedding reception with my small budget. So that's one thing I would consider; in my opinion, that venue definitely takes work.

If you have the budget to spend to make the place how you envision on your wedding day, by all means, it has a great location and I hear their caterer, Capdebocq, is amazing!

Hope this helps and good luck to you on your search!

So all the gorgeous decorations in the photos don't come along with? Figures. So what is included? Are there at least tablecloths and chair covers?

I viewed the venue last week.  It is really just a blank canvas.  They do offer basic tables, linens, and chair covers, but you have to pay for everything else, including the installation of the dance floor.  It was just too plain for me.  I guess if you did have the budget, it could look absolutely amazing.  The room is beautiful, and they allow you to bring outside catering.  I just felt that it's not in a great part of town and for my available spend I couldn't see making it feel "special" enough for such a big day.

I wasn't a huge fan either--wound up going with another place.  Food and all, DJ, etc. is included, but no real decorations besides table/chairs.  It's got the basics, but you need to bring in other stuff to make it beautiful like you'll want it.  Really, it's just a big room with columns everywhere--simple as that.  I might be alone on this, but to me, the columns made the room feel chopped up.  Plus we just weren't comfortable asking guests to pay to park.  Good luck!

I actually am going with the Federal Ballroom for my wedding.

I do agree with some of the above comments - but instead of "plain ad basic" I think the space is more "clean, elegant, and classic". It really depends on what vibe you are looking for. I haven't heard of many other places (and brides, correct me if I'm wrong) that include a ton of decorations in their package??? Maybe a bouquet here or there, or I think I remember the Wax museum providing candlebras for the centerpieces, but I just have never heard of flowers on every table, etc being included?

Anyway, actually I saw rebecca last week and she told me she just ordered 14 up-lights for the space (read:fancy lighting). Anything they have in inventory is available free of charge to the brides who book. Yes, that currently only includes tables, chairs and linens for 100 guests, AND the dance floor (plus the new lights). Again, to each his own, I plan not to over-decorate the place... I actually like the way it looks :). And yes, it is a big room but it fills up pretty fast with all the tables & chairs in there (plus the dance floor, and a band...)

In regards to your original questions.. I can't be too helpful since my wedding hasn't happened yet and I'm going with an outside caterer. But so far I've been pleased with them! Just wanted to give you another perspective!
