Ways to ask your friends to be Bridesmaids?

I want to send a gift along with asking them to be my bridesmaid. Any suggestion on where to look for gifts either websites or stores in chicago?

I didn't do gifts, but I got cute fortune cookies made.  I had the fortune say "will you be my bridesmaid?"  and put them in Chinese take out boxes.  They came out really cute!  I think there is a pic in my bio under DIY.

I went to Deerfield's bakery and had 3 cookies made with the phrase "Will you be my Bridesmaid?" divided on each cookie. I also had them over for a nice ladies luncheon and handmade each girl a card with a note telling them how much I appreciate their friendship. They really loved it.

I made cookies using a wedding cake shaped cutter and decorated each one with frosting to say "Will You Be My Bridesmaid?" I wrote a handwritten note to each of them telling them how much they mean to me, my fondest memories with them, and asking if they would do me the honor of standing by my side.

I took the local girls out for drinks and appetizers and gave each of them their gifts. I sent the BM in San Fransisco hers in the mail cause I didn't know when I'd see her next. I asked FSIL when I saw her on family vacation.

I took Chinese take out boxes and put some of that filler shreaded paper (like for gift baskets) in it. I took a ring pop and proped it up inside with a note that said "Will you be my bridesmaid?" I made sure to personalize each take out box with the bridesmaid's initials.

I gave them a feather duster wrapped in rubber dishwashing gloves and ribbon to look like a bouquet along with a diy flip book with 5 reasons they should be my maid.

The cover said: Top Five Reasons You Should Be My Maid (now that you have the supplies).  The first four reasons were funny/inside jokes and the number one reason was more heartfelt (this is also where I wrote the words, Will You Be My Bridesmaid?)

    Everyone loved them!

I used the IPhoto program on my Mac and created 5 X 7 postcards with a photo collage with me and that person on the front with "Will you Be my Bridesmaid" written front and center. On the reverse, I added 10 funny reasons why they should be my bridesmaid and waited for all the phone calls as each girl received them. They turned out SOOOO cute. I was so happy to have found something so personal that only cost $3 or so a piece. My original idea was to do the puzzle piece thing with the same photo collage concept, but it was getting costly.

My friends knew we were making photobooth save the date magnets.  I told each of the friends I knew I wanted to have stand up I needed their opinions on which samples I had created looked the best.  The last sample I replaced pictures of me and my fiance with pictures of my friend and I and I replaced the language SAVE THE DATE with WILL YOU BE MY BRIDESMAID/MAID OF HONOR/MATRON OF HONOR.  They thought it was awesome and loved seeing the old photos I had dug up!

Go to Dogeared's website.  I really like their bracelet/neclace concepts. They have a bridesmaid one where it says, when the bracelet breaks, their wish will be granted. I think they run for $31 a piece. It's a gold dipped or silver pendant and a really cool concept.

I was thinking about doing this for my bridesmaids as a 'thank you' for accepting my proposal=)

I asked them all in person.

I did something really similar to this...for $3 each, you can make a collage card on snapfish.com...I made one for each BM and put in old pics of us and then made a cute, silly poem that asked them to be my BM...they all LOVED it and I think it was such a cute, personal, uncommon idea!

I know I've seen it on this board before (just can't seem to find it), but does anyone know a cute poem/saying to write in the card to ask your bridesmaids? I'm still undecided what will accompany the card as most of my BMs will be out of town so it has to be something that will travel well.
