Bridal Stores

I know there are a lot of recommendations on here, but if anyone can give me tips on where to go as well as where NOT to go, that would be great!  I am looking to stay around $1000 or less for my dress, so anywhere with deals is even better!  Thanks!

I really loved Simply Elegant.  My dress was less than $1000 including alterations.

I hated David's Bridal- I went in there with my street size 20 sister and they treated us like crap because of her weight.  I'd never buy from somewhere that treats someone I love that way.

Clarice's Bridal is great! You can get an amazing dress for under $1,000!

The David's Bridal in Sunset Hills, ask for Corey!  She is wonderful!!!  I am a street size 16 and my sister/MOH is a street size 2 and she treated us both the same.  She has never been pushy and she is just really wonderful!  I got the dress of my dreams and it was under $1000.

Demetrios in Brentwood-HORRIBLE service and OVERPRICED.  That was the first shop I went to and it made me so discouraged I didn't think I would find a dress.  Clarice's was a 180, great service, very reasonable prices-and they actually LISTEN to you.

Ditto on Clarice's. They are amazing! I worked with Jaz (I don't remember how you spell her name) for my dress - they didn't have it in the store but she knew exactly what I wanted just based on the dress style name. She was so helpful. My bridesmaids dresses are from David's Bridal because it was easier as I have people all across the country in my wedding. I live by the St. Peters store but they were so unwilling to help and didn't understand my questions that I ended up driving to the South County location. They were awesome! Good luck!

I have to ditto this. Corey has been nothing but great, not only with my dress but also my bridesmaids'.

If I hadn't found my dress at DB, I would have definitely bought mine at Simply Elegant. They were incredibly helpful and mindful of budget. They were also incredibly willing to help get a dress within your budget if it's a little over.

    Good luck!

We're not supposed to bash vendors -- but since you asked-- hate, hate, hate Robin's Bridal.  Ordered bridesmaids dresses there -- what a disaster!  And they took zero ownership of their mistakes -- yes plural -- mistakes!

It's a bit of a drive, but I found my beautiful dress at Wedding Creations in Washington, MO. They have the best prices, too! I called around to other stores for quotes on my dress and they offered the best price with free alterations! :) Good luck shopping around!

I third DB in Sunset Hills and make an appointment with Corey.  She was nice, kind, considerate, and unpushy!!!  Make sure Corey is there everytime you go in.  When I went in with BMs after I had gotten my dress, no one paid attention to us but we were pretty self sufficient.  I have heard to avoid Maiden Voyage.

Make sure you go to Simply Elegant downtown. I love the atmosphere and you won't get better customer service any where else. They could fit your budget for sure.

I second Wedding Creations in Washington. I cannot say enough about these ladies. They are super helpful, and always remember who I am when I go in there.

I just had a bad experience at The Bridal Shoppe in Festus, MO.

I would definitely recommend Clarice's! They are awesome and really worked with me to get the dress I wanted!

Check out this new group  http://www.meetup.com/STL-and-Metro-Brides-To-Be/

Will be inviting venues of this nature to many of these meetings.  Great group.

I loved Bridal Connections in North County. I bought my dress there and also had it altered there and was very happy. The is a great cake shop next to it called Wedding Wonderland, and I got my cake there.

I bought my dress off-the-rack (sample) at White Traditions in St. Charles.  I could not have asked for better service.  They were "there" when you needed assistance and not when you just wanted to look through all the dresses which after going to 3 other places that is never the case.  I thought the prices were very reasonable and they had a huge selection of different designers.  I went with a gown from Pronovias.  Another place I can recommend is Kambe's in Highland, IL.  There is where I had all my alterations done (much closer to my house than St. Charles).  Kambe's is a small bridal salon that specializes in hand made wedding dresses (but also sells wedding dresses by other designers). If I'm recalling my information correctly, the owner of the store, who is always on site, is the one who makes the dresses and she studied abroad (Europe) where she got her design degree.

I love, love, LOVE Margo's dress shop in Union, MO. It is a bit of a drive, but it is a mom and pop shop and they will treat you like gold. They have a fabulous selection of wedding and bridesmaid dresses.
And I really would not go to David's Bridal. I know the prices are right and they carry all sizes, but I went in on numerous occasions and never felt like I was being given attention. Good luck on your search!

The Wedding Shoppe in St.Charles is great. They have tons of dresses and I felt like they actually cared about what I wanted, and what looked good on me. I also went to Clarice's and they were pretty good, but I would not go on a Saturday. They were very busy and I felt a little rushed. DO NOT go to Happily Ever After in Chesterfield. I found a dress I liked there and then saw it at Clarice's for $400 less!!

The Wedding Gallery in St Charles wasn't great. I went there today and i asked for a sheath dress, and the girl kept pulling A-lines with 3 foot trains. By the time she finally figured out what I was asking for, i was so overwhelmed i didn't want to try anymore on.
