I'm getting married in my hometown church on Oahu and am doing my catholic marriage prep in Michigan. My fiance and I met with the priest a year ago and outlined a ceremony program, ceremony times, and rehearsal time. Everything was great - Until yesterday!
I needed a copy of my baptism certificate, so I called my hometown church to send one over and the woman at the office asked if this was for a wedding. I told her "Yes! I'm actually getting married there at the church on May 6th." Then I hear the words that made my heart drop: She says "Really? There's no wedding scheduled here for May 6th." Then she laughs and says "Well, lucky for you no one else took your date!" WTF Seriously?!
Apparently, the priest had 'forgotten' to put it in the books! After some panicking, I told her to please put me in and tell the priest to call me ASAP! She says "Well, you haven't filled out our paperwork or paid your deposit, so I'm not sure I can do that." AH! It took some serious 'keep-it-together' skills, but in the end I was able to straighten everything out. I think the fiance was bracing for the worst when I got home from work. He had a hot chocolate with a strawberry marshmallow and a big hug ready and waiting for me when I walked in the door.
