Honeymoon help!

I've got less than 10 days left and haven't decided if we are going on a honeymoon or not. Help! Both me and fi can only get off sat/sun and fi has to be back at work Mon night. So we don't have much time to go anywhere. My thing is if we do how should we book... if we go anywhere we wouldn't get there until 1 to 3 am. And I can't see paying for a night when we will only be in there a few hours. Should I book it for sat/sun night or just sun night? I am going to decide and book by tomorrow night. Thoughts?

  • So is the location far?  That is tough.  I would personally not want to drive through the night.

It is typically a 6 hour drive. I don't mind that part. We've done drives tons of times. I'm not sure what time we will leave from our location to head out. Leaving at 7 pm would put us about 1 am getting there. I'm just not sure if we should pay for 1 or 2 nights since it will be pretty late getting there.

  • Unfortunately, unless you stay somewhere that charges by the hour (not sure you'd want to stay in a hotel like that ever) or you plan to sleep in your car, you're going to get stuck paying for two nights even though you'd arrive at 1:00 A.M.

If you're asking if you should sleep at home that night and leave Sunday morning--it depends on how tired you'll be. If you don't mind driving through the night then go for it, but I'll warn you that H and I were EXHAUSTED after the wedding. It didn't hit us until we were faced with the prospect of going with some of our guests to a local pub, then all we wanted to do was go home and rest. Leaving for the honeymoon late the next morning was a great decision for us, but then again, we had five days off as opposed to two, and I can see why you'd want to maximize your honeymoon time.

I'd probably leave Saturday night and spring for two nights in a hotel if I were you. It sounds like a fun and romantic adventure to me. Have fun, no matter what you decide to do!

  • My honest opinion. Stay in a hotel Saturday night close to your reception venue and stay until Monday. You're going to be so tired. Driving would not be safe.

Order room service, turn off all your phones/ipad/computers. Be lazy. Enjoy each other's company. Go for a walk or see a movie. Then go home on Monday. Why drive six hours to do something you could do without all the hassle?
